Exactly… I don't buy it. It seems like their courtship was quick, and suddenly they were super in love. It's a bit rushed for a show that focuses so much on development.

2 things that I haven't noticed in my skimming of the comments…
so I've been thinking about this episode (cause I'm cool and do that in my spare time) and I dunno if it's been said but the connection between Burt/the 'half season finale' last year ending on the moon, and now we're at space oddity, with its "Am I sitting in a tin can, far above the world, planet earth is blue, and…
I just can't hate Betty. She has her flaws when she's so just silly but I still love her in moments. Maybe it's just cause I have a mad girl crush on January Jones.
True. He's like a twisted Walter Mitty. Although now I think he's at his wits end. His acted out fantasies aren't fruitful anymore.. He's lost and unhappy and doesn't know what to do about it.
I loved this episode. I feel bad for people who don't watch this show.
I love the Walter Mitty comparison! I haven't seen the film but the short story it's based on is about a man leading a double life, his secret dreaminess appearing almost pathetic in his corporate dreary life. That is much like Don and the advertising world at McCann. These day dreamers were seen as threats at this…
All I pray is now that Carol and Phil are a thing, we can get a storyline that doesn't revolve around someone trying to woo someone.
I'm not saying that it isn't a realistic response, but their forced portrayal of being adorable with heart pancakes and then saying I love you only for Todd to not hear it back just felt like an obvious ploy for me to care about their perfect couple ness being disturbed. And I guess it felt so deliberate and cliche…
How didn't this get an A? Or at least an A-? It was my favorite episode of this half season so far…
This show is weird. I don't know who to root for. I find Carol endearing but everyone else is kinda boring or one note.
I'm sure it's already been said, but I loved how Megan wore her "iconic" season 6 opener dress to that awful lunch with Harry.. just kinda shows how she may look great, but that she's really not as put together as she seems..
I'm surprised this review didn't mention the importance of NY in this episode. Between the Calvets shitting on it and Diana wanting to leave it, and Don buying a guide book for it, I thought it was a pretty clear metaphor for something seeing that only Don seemed to be in its defense.
true, he works the 70's style like no other
I scrolled through it impulsively…. so sorry about that, ha.
Making a list like this and presenting it as objective will never work…. You'll always piss everyone off.
Hi! WOW. *chris traeger voice* this is literally incredible.
I agree. Much less subtle than other episodes. I think that's possible. Or maybe Weiner is just trying to throw us off, thinking these are the good and bad ones only to completely warp that by the end.
Also I couldn't help but notice a parallel between Ken/Don in terms of fate.
All the men got a downgrade overall appearance-wise (helloooo 1970!) but Peggy's haircut and date outfit were so rad.
