F16 and F18 were/are much cheaper than F117. And you can’t increase your platform numbers without substantially increasing especially with the F35. I contend it is an obsolete platform already at least for this mission. An unmanned stealthy drone with guided munitions is probably the way to go.

So the ultimate evolution is a stealthy drone with cheaper small diameter bombs? I suppose that is where we are now. In that sense using a super expensive platform to deliver large munitions 2 at a time (JSF) is essentially obsolete.

My friend was in Fallujah I think. Ran out of rockets and was pinpointing targets for Apaches....saw some insurgents in the open and the Apache wasn’t there yet so he engaged out the window with an M4. Crazy bastard flew right over top of them and shot them up. He’s nuts. Flies a lifeline helicopter now lol

EF-111's and F-111's in general were such cool aircraft. Down low, fast as hell.

So cool. No way I could do it. One little tip of the blades into a tree, wire or structure and it’s all over. And just seems like you are a target for AA fire or MANPADS in those things. Attack helicopters are BA and the guys that fly them are tough SOB’s.
