Am I the only one old enough to remember the David Letterman piece he did about his two favorite stores in NYC - Just Shades and Just Bulbs? I'll see if I can find in later and link to it. Now get off my lawn!

You might want to re-read the hashtag on the first tweet and the LOL thing on the second - he's joking.

With you on that one. Not quite killing with kindness, either - more like inflicting a paper cut with equanimity.

Actually, Hispanic/Latino is an option on many demographic surveys. Also, Cameron Diaz's mother is of German descent, while her father was born in the US. And she dyes her hair blonde. Christina Aguilera is of Irish-Ecuadorian heritage, and Julie Gonzalo isn't blonde. In other words, while she might be bi-racial

This is curiosity, not snark - where are there blonde haired, blue eyed Latinos?

Katniss has a blonde haired, blue eyed sister. She has a blonde haired, blue eyed mother. Her father had dark eyes and hair. Exactly what ethnicity would produce this family other than Caucasian?

Why do you think "Midnight in Paris" is about Paris? It was literate, humorous, well-acted, and wistful. Not sure why you think it was "shallowly pleasing?"

We actually started one once - it was a dinner plate with crossed knife and fork, with a picture of our dog in the top quarter... and that's about all I can remember. Bet it would have looked better with sequins. And booze.

OK, I love that. It gets better if we combine the two - "Better living through sequins" or "Some chemistry could fix that!" I think we're on to something here...

RuPaul has it right - our family motto has always been "Better Living Through Chemistry!"

What she's saying is that Mayer has the right to make a choice, and just because someone disagrees with that choice they don't have the right to call Mayer anti-feminist, or whatever. Feminism is about the right to make choices, whether everyone agrees with you or not. (At least, that's my interpretation).

That's what I was thinking - keep that up for a week, and see if that dog ever comes when you call again.

Are we taking bets that someone snags it for the Oscars? I sure as shit would.

If I mortgage my apartment, do you think I could afford the dress and a ticket to someplace to wear it? It reminds me of one of my favorite costumes from the movie Auntie Mame (the Rosalind Russell, not the horrible Lucille Ball thing). It's a similar design, but the pants are bronze and the coat is... oh, go watch

, actually. I have a contractual obligation to post a link to this video whenever relevant, because he's family. And a really sweet guy, too.

If you can find it, definitely check out Flirting. I haven't seen it in years, but I remember loving it. Thandie Newton was amazing!

Yeah, that's what it does to me too.

The is the version of the Christian the lion clip that always makes me cry:

Per capita, the intentional homicide rate alone in the US is more than double most first world countries: US 4.2; UK 1.2; Australia 1.0; Italy .9; Canada 1.6; Poland 1.1; etc., etc.. Add to that the huge number of accidental gun deaths, and we lead in violent death rates by an even greater number.
