Ah, the ?! was mostly just because there seems to be some lack of clarity as to whether the Crichton-as-director thing happened or not (IMDB says he's uncredited as director in the final film). That aside yeah letting Crichton direct makes a certain kind of sense, however, I don't think I'd say it was a *good idea*…

That's interesting about the hotel-scene ordering. Is the crazy snails scene in the theatrical cut at all?

My understanding from Wikipedia's account is that the "low quality" scenes are low quality precisely because the only source for those scenes is telecine or vhs videotape, whereas the "high quality" scenes on the DVD were transferred from film. So no, you wouldn't have noticed any differences in the Media VHS release,

Aughra's actress *was* cool, but I noticed, with Oz's voice it really felt like the voice and the puppetry were part of a single performance, after hearing the original-track audio the actress they eventually got for Augra just felt like a good dub. Oz's version just made the character seem more alive to me.

The Dark Crystal DVD has a few short horrible-quality clips with the originally recorded audio, and it's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT and way better movie. Notably, Jim Henson and Frank Oz voice The Protagonist and Ogra, and both can actually act; and the skeksis never talk, instead communicating through animalistic grunts and

A long-running and probably false rumor is that some of the weirder turns in the editing/release process of the 1973 Wicker Man were due to the machinations of Rod Stewart (yes, that Rod Stewart) trying behind the scenes to get the film buried because his girlfriend appears topless in it.

Should be on this list IMO: "The Wicker Man", the original, good one set in Scotland, was cut massively before its U.S. release, partly by Roger Corman who apparently wanted to mold it into a more conventional horror film. The full version as the director originally delivered it wasn't available until someone released

Gui, "the nuclear powers just sign non aggressive pacts with each other and hope for the best" is what the U.N. *is*. So let's say you have a non-aggression pact between the nuclear powers, and three of the nuclear powers want to invade [Sudan, Syria, Georgia] and two of the nuclear powers support the regime in
