I think we're supposed to be skeptical about Myra being their mother.  Dean is.  Hank looks a lot like Sally Impossible, too, and she's not his mom.  Side note; Dr. Venture and the Monarch are amazingly similar too but I don't think that's a coincidence.

I felt like he was trying to communicate what he was also saying with his mouth-words.  Love be love, yo.  I'm not sure he was coming on to him, even, just telling him something true in a way that included a little bit of "you may be surprised."

My favorite Pete is "more-or-less-socially-empathic-although-still-a-product-of-his-time" Pete.  The only stuff he ever seems to be right about are things that seem obvious to him but still are somehow not apparent to society today.  It must have sounded ridiculous when he said it was a shameful day but that's exactly…
