that's fair. The show does make feints towards being deeper and having more going on (like 10's arrogance or Amy's character development) but never quite goes the whole way (which is Moffat's MO). It's a stupid show that tries to be smart or a smart show that's dumber it thinks it is, depending on how you view it at

I loved "Pond Life." It played perfectly to Gillan and Darvill's chemistry and comic timing and helped undo the damage of S6

the moment she showed up on Torchwood I cheered. She has about twice the charisma and acting chops as anyone else had on that show. It was like as said above "finally, a professional"

that's pretty dumb

that's an interesting take in that only recently has the idea of a serialized TV show, one that builds worlds, has continuing plots and themes, and moves from a point A to point B come into being. Doctor Who was always mainly a one-off type show (it's a show full of stand-alones and barely any 'mythology' type

which still boils her character's essence to her being in lurve with the Doctor. I love pragmatic, smart Martha (she's my 2nd favorite companion) but they really did in her character with that crush she had

FWIW- Moffat is taking an idea that RTD had to explain why Capaldi was in both Pompeii and Children of the Earth and is now the Doctor so they can explain all that away. For those who really would have cared or noticed.

the cute little marshmellow alien episode?

First off- I HATE John Simm in this. HATE HIM. Way, way over the top and broad in ways other Who villains ever were. The episode would have been so much better if he played it somewhat straight but with the menace buried underneath. Also, the Scissor Sisters scene, the Dobby the Elf scene, and 10's "You just

Doctor Who is/has never been the kind of show that builds worlds or even coherent narratives. It is what it is- goofy fun. Each season has a lot of good episodes mixed with a lot of terrible episodes and I don't see that ever changing. It is what it is what it is and it's all a matter of whether or not you can roll

I don't think it's in her personality to befriend the Doctor like that (which is why she's a one season companion) because she's too cool and level headed to put up with his crap for long and because crush-aside, I never got the feeling she was awe-struck by him. She never worshipped him like the others did (Amy

but then she gives as one of her final excuses that she can't hang with some guy who doesn't notice her, once again ruining her character even in her final bow

what the hell did "Sound of Drums" mean? That whole part was just one more piece of stupid in a stupid pie

Except for the fact you keep thinking "hey, it's the Governor! That dude sucked" and can't take him seriously anymore

These episodes, especially the ending, felt like RTD realized they were kiddie shows so cheesed parts of it up to make up for the darkness. The ending is full unadulturated cheesiness

I thought he looked like a bird

I watched the final two episodes of the previous season right before this episode and it was a little jarring, mainly in that the show has budget enough to go for a less gritty look and instead more colorful, bright look. Took me about half the episode to get adjusted to it

As much as I love the show- we go from Sarah wearing Beth's clothes screaming about Kira to Sarah in her own gear running in the rain. It is also suddenly springtime in Cloneland whereas s1 ended in the winter. Aiso Delphine had longer hair in this episode

strangely, I got a feeling Maslany had watched a few too many GoT dvds before figuring Rachel out because there's a little bit of Daenerys in her accent and mannerisms.

you could tell it was Sarah too because she looked angry, determined, and pissed off from the get-go. Cosima never looks like that.
