Yeah, there's no accounting for taste, but Fool to Cry surely isn't a 'chore.' It's one of my favorite all-time hot licks.

Pretty far down the comment thread to be above it all.
Elsewhere on this site, it is wisely pointed out how opinions evolve over time on truly great albums. Record reviews would ideally be published five years after the record comes out. But it's mainly the business of most reviews to warn against wasting your money. Beyond that, we all make up our own minds.

10 years later I started listening to Return of Saturn. And this: "[an] infuriatingly whiny collection of odes to female weakness," does not describe that album at all. So, Mr. Thompson, as soon as you look at this — which I imagine will be any day now — you get back to me on that.
"The most interesting thing MTV has done since…1997"
—this statement is not intended to be factual
The first two shows don't sound too bad. Or too navel gazing, except for the Bo one which is a comment ABOUT navel gazing. Actually, this sounds like the most interesting thing MTV has done since I stopped paying attention to it in 1997.
Plus, don't people in their 20s ALWAYS want to watch themselves and/or be…
Without much science to go on, I still have to disagree with you, and my governor, about the weather warnings Saturday night. They were severe enough to keep me in Greenwood (just south of Indy) for an hour before making the drive back home (four blocks from the fairgrounds.)
Fair officials still know what a giant…
@HURHUR, waiting for examples of near-inhuman callousness on the AV Club comment boards is not an 'if' type of situation, it's definitely a 'when.'

Fuck, Mtv — why? You were SO COOL.

Hahaaaaa Jetheath - no shit. Of all the threads, this one is most transparently full of secret fan boys killing refractory-period time before minimizing this window and getting back to 'work.'
Well yeah but — didn't he walk away from it to do a failed Late Late Show? Or did he walk away from that too? At any rate, we've wound up with Craig Ferguson and that's all we should need/want.
I don't buy that a metal dude who is provincial about his Great Plains upbringing is a very believable hipster. I'm, I don't know, convinced? he loves rock music because of the way he describes it. I don't find him too snobbish in his music writing — really, the opposite. His essays on TV or sports can be tortured…
Really, the only reason to genuinely HATE him is jealousy. Dude just writes about ABBA and the Lakers, how pissed can you get?
