I just love this guy. I am grateful to IO9 turned me on to him by featuring “What We Do in the Shadows”. Marvel made a shrewd move in hiring him to direct “Ragnarok”.

OMG MIND BLOWN. I’d had no idea that was him.

I am not watching this overrated garbage superhero kidscomedy in the cinema. Taika Waititi single-handedly ruined Thor by turning him into an unfunny, idiotic comedian. And he butchered the Ragnarok storyline by turning it into a parody of it. Blind fanboys will just eat this shit up. I’m not wasting my money on

THAT’S what I know him from! Thank you! It’s been driving me just nuts enough to almost go to the enormous trouble of googling him.

The article’s main image will be under appreciated by those who do not understand it’s origin, so please allow me to elucidate others:

K, this? THIS is the best pic for any story ever (except the original, of course). I’ve been laughing at my desk uncontrollably.

...my biggest disappointment and the biggest soul-loss this episode was Saru. Amazing to me that the guy who was supposed to be the science officer on the Shenzhou would not heed the calls for a bit of humane treatment when it comes to the Tardigrade. Sure, Saru has a blind spot when it comes to anything Michael

The Klingons have a slippery definition of honor, especially in the TOS era, where they were often portrayed as very shady characters: poisoning grain, massacring entire crowds of civilians to make a point, sabotaging the Enterprise’s engines, etc. The guys in “Friday’s Child” or “A Private Little War” or “Elaan of

I’m going to repost a comment I made earlier on the AV Club review:

“Klingons wouldn’t be dishonorable enough to destroy escape pods”

“Did anyone else cringe at the use of ‘fucking cool’ twice on a Trek show?”

Honestly, the most chilling and disturbing part of the episode was the idea of hundreds of Federation ships running on the torture of a living creature. Moving forward with THAT would have been beyond the soul of Star Trek. That they discovered a fantastic thing a living creature can do, then that it hurts the

Totally didn’t seem forced at all. She thought it was cool. Don’t you ever nerd out at something?

See Kirk agreeing to strand Gary Mitchell alone on a abandoned mining colony...

You would have a point if these characters didn’t struggle with their choices at all.

Guys, this is so fucking cool! No cadet.. it is fucking cool! (Whirrr, whirrr, whirr) The sound you hear is the whirling dervish of Gene Roddenberry’s corpse spinning in his grave.

I have faith in Taiki Waititi’s ability to bring heart as well as funnies, for I have seen the glory that is What We Do In The Shadows. Funny as fuck, but it loves its characters too. Much heart.

I’m almost tempted to read the shit they’re talking about to see if it’s even remotely good.

...and more specifically, most of the comedy comes from it being just normal people dealing with tedium accented by occasional moments of panic. I find the characters in many ways more believable than the crew of the Enterprise.
