That would definitely be a more fun show. I’d be fine with 70's Ruby too.
I’d much rather see what Ruby was up to in the ‘80s than Rainbow.
I feel like the show still struggles with giving Elektra the right dialogue sometimes. While they’re campy and funny, her lines feel like they belong in a different TV universe, and land weirdly while characters like Blanca and Angel talk like normal people.
Blanca or Angel (can’t remember which) used the term “cis,” which I also think is an anachronism. If we’re in 1990 (the year Madonna’s “Vogue” was released), this term, at the very least, was not in common use, if it was in use at all.
As much as I enjoy this show, I *really* had to roll my eyes when she said that.
*She is not going to say it. I feel like she’s going to say it, but they’re not going to put in an anachronism that big just so Elektra can have a sassy line.*
“Wintour is coming!”
*She said it.*
“Gizmo, get the dildos..... Gizmo, try out the dildos.”
Why bother going at all... your brother (or fine, whatever Bran is) is king, your sister rules the newly-independent country in between anyhow, and the guys they were mollifying with your “sentence” have fucked off to Tragic Love Interest Island.
I am pretty sure the whole Nights Watch thing was just a scam to fool Grey Worm.
Nah. I’m pretty sure she’s going to discover the continents of North and South Ameros. Lady Stark bringer of Smallpox.
The Arya thing just made no sense. “What do we do with Arya now that she’s a matter assassin? I dunno, have her fuck off to the end of the world that somehow no one has ever mentioned to tried to visit”
Winner of “Best Game” Award has to go to Bronn. This is a man that started out as nothing but a commoner. He was a sell sword. A nobody. When the game is over, he’s sitting on HighGarden, one of the best castles in all of Westeros, and is Master of Coin on the King’s Council. And all of that without having to fight…
In the end, Bran let Dany go on her rampage because he knew she would make his kingdom more ADA compliant.
The cut to the baby had me breathless. It was so perfectly timed.
Favorite example of Clement’s writing & Waititi’s direction, for me, was the reveal of the actual Vampire Baby on the council. Scripted and edited - that was a funny reveal. Hiss!
Just last week, I saw discriminatory rental advertising in a local FB group. The ad said stuff like “perfect for a couple” which is coded language for “no kids.” Phrases describing an “ideal”tenant are almost always a big no-no, and should be easy to automatically filter and flag as inappropriate.
Would that also be illegal? If so, then okay, but if not... I’m not seeing the distinction.
It is unlawful to make, print, or publish, or cause to be made, printed, or published, any notice, statement, or advertisement with respect to the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin or…
exactly! i know this is tongue-in-cheek but i’d love to see a purge movie where someone is trying to pull off a big financial crime or simply get an abortion.
I enjoyed Get Out, but the Purge movies were showing how white people long to control and destroy black bodies in a genre setting long before Get Out was around. Somehow these are “B-movies” while Get Out was an Oscar winner, which makes little sense to me.
