Terrible idea though it was, coal fires were not uncommon on most ships of the era. The manner in which the coal was stored made it very difficult to extinguish by conventional means. Water would soak the top layers of the coal but not penetrate the tightly-packed coal to the smoldering coal underneath. The common

The fire was contained in the coal bunker for the duration of the voyage. Surviving passengers from the lower forward decks reported a sulfur-like smell as the voyage commenced from Southampton but there doesn’t exist any evidence (including testimony from crewmen who worked to extinguish the fire) that the passenger

There are reports from the time that use the term “raged” in reference to the fire but, in reality, the fire never “raged” so much as “smoldered.” There isn’t any consensus on how the fire started but what is known is that it started in one of the coal bunkers on the aft bulkhead of Boiler Room 6 before the ship left

My best friend from high school named his son Axel Vincent. Nice kid, though.

Mrs. Fox and I named our son Renard. It’s just unique enough to be interesting and not out-there enough to be fodder for stupid people. At least, that’s the hope. Kids are geniuses when it comes to insults.

When I lived in LA, I was part of a group of filmmakers that lived and worked together on indie films and YouTube shovelware. One of these guys, who was my first real friend in LA and convinced me to move there, was a pretty decent director who had several connections. Chief among them was his father, 80s pop singer

This is how he makes his money. The fear-mongering and the hand-wringing, the threat that the government is going to take the guns away from “the good guys,” all drive membership in the NRA and line his pockets. It’s less about the 2A and more about his pocketbook.

Send it over to Fort Worth so they can finally feel like they won something after the whole DFW Airport thing.

It’s about the same over in Lake Worth, where I’m from. Confederate flags in ever living room and on every pick-up truck.

To be fair, the Ballpark should have been built with a roof in the first place. The biggest complaint most fans had with Arlington Stadium was that it was too hot in the summer. On-field temperatures could be in excess of 110 degrees during the day. It gets hot and oppressive in Texas, weather-wise. Sports writers

Texas also has state inspections.

My mother is the queen of back-handed comments and passive-aggressive remarks. She plays the victim any time someone disagrees with her, especially when it’s on Facebook or the like. She’s remarkably religious and very, very conservative, and any time someone (especially me) calls her out on some of her more racist

I’m going to have to go with NP on this one. I used to own a ‘86 Prelude Si with a five-speed back when I was in high school. It was the first car I ever owned and I bought it with my own money (all $500 of it). It had over 150k miles on it and it would. Not. Break. That car was so much fun to drive and it was solid

Thanks for the info! I know what to look out for now!

Frankly, I think this is the way to go. We should be interacting with them and teaching them at this stage, not plunking them in front of the television while we do other things. The TV should not be a babysitter or a teacher. That’s what parents are for.

I found out today that my wife is pregnant. We’ve been talking about stuff like this most of the day. We both grew up on Sesame Street; we both came to the same conclusion you did about Elmo merchandise. It’s safe to say that was the only easy decision we’ve managed so far.

Thanks for the review/heads-up, Jason. As a huge Fallout fan (I made a Fallout web series, for Chrissake) I was anticipating picking this up as soon as it dropped. Now, I might give it a month or so to iron out some of the bugs, as is Behtesda’s tradition.

The higher trim levels did. I don’t remember if it was standard on all of them. I know mine had it.

It's supposed to be. I know it was in every valet application I ever filled out. The three places I worked made you take a driving test.

Same situation when I bought my 3. The guy daily-drove a Speed3 and we talked for a couple of hours even after the sale was closed. He was the only one at that dealer that seemed to care about the product versus the sale and that’s the reason I worked with him.
