I was a regular lurker on alt.tv.xfiles back in the day, think I might have posted a couple of times. I’ve never forgotten IDDG.

Clear bottle Corona is awful, but the brown quarts (caguamas) of Corona taste different and are almost good.

yeah, we were all surprised at how smooth and easy it was to drink! We were careful and judicious so no one got sick, but it didn’t take much to get drunk.

we finished it all that night (and it packs a helluva punch), and it’s a lot harder to explain how a bottle ended up missing twice!

In college, my friend was in charge of the chem lab and he may have acquired a bottle of the pure, or nearly pure alcohol that was used in the lab and we may have consumed some cocktails using said alcohol.

Love Child #5 is fantastic! This sounds good too, I’ll definitely check it out. Loving the array of sours available, but my wallet hates me.

and a six-pack at the local pizzeria?

I don’t like mushrooms, so I can’t make that comparison. I’d say something like a mildly yeasty brie rind? More of a bite than a gaminess.

We can certainly agree on that!

relax man, it’s just beer.

Funny, because I would hold up Saint Arnold as my choice for “if I could only keep one Texas brewery” because of their consistently good beers across a variety of styles.

Black Star Coop in Austin is similar. They’re also unique in that they pay a living wage and thus are very adamant about no tipping.

Here in Austin it seems like we have a new brewery or brewpub opening every other week, and many of the suburbs are also starting to show up. I keep thinking we’ll hit peak capacity soon, but then again right now Austin is filthy with young folks with money, along with a lot of less rich people with local pride. As

Texas is now full of amazing beers of all types and styles. Shiner Bock continues to not be one of them. Iconic doesn’t mean good.

But opinions differ, and I’ve vowed to not argue on the Internet anymore unless there are facts (preferably archaeological) involved.

can’t always be dark and gritty. I thought it was a brilliant throwback to the days of serial sci-fi stories using realistic science.

I named one of my cats Ruby, after Shiner Ruby Redbird. The other is Wendy, after “Born to Run”

iirc: “I am so fucked”

except, you know, surviving for 3 years alone on a desolate planet with, at best, a 90 day supply of food. But other than that, no tension :)
