Speaking of pilsners, did you review Dogfish Head Piercing Pils yet?

I'll give it a shot, but I suspect I'll react the same way that I do now when I see rich white kids post photos of themselves with wide-eyed kids during their "eye-opening experience" mini-vacations to Africa/South America that they take for college applications.

I should probably give it another try, because 16-year old me almost made my English teacher cry with my thorough loathing and criticism of it.

Grabbed a 4-pack of this at Specs this weekend ($16) on my way out of town, after reading the review. We snagged a variety of cheap and craft beers for a weekend at a cabin with friends, but I got a little stingy and kept 2 of the bottles in my car.

My favorite Austin bar makes a "Party Radler", apparently based on something from Chicago. It's a Stiegl Radler in a mini-pitcher full of ice, with a shot of tequila or vodka added in (I hear they use Malort in Chicago). Great summer day-drinking concoction.

Heard of 19 (heavily skewed to the West and the East, despite living in the South).

From the linked article: engraved with an inscription that reads "To Allah" or "For Allah" in Arabic."

I'd say that's a perfect description of Shiner White Wing. With the exception of the Redbird (and the disgusting smoked beer) their specialties are largely uninspired and lack any punch. The Prickly Pear beer could be soooooooo good, except it's not because they didn't take it far enough.

Low expectations are good to have for Shiner seasonals, unfortunately (with the exception of my beloved and polarizing Ruby Redbird). I wanted to like it, but it was a struggle to even finish the bomber.

The possibility that there are 3 *beers*, much less 3 stouts that are worse than the Shiner Birthday Chocolate is terrifying. One of the grossest beers I've ever had, like pouring YooHoo into a Shiner Bock.

Ditto.

what about TED talks, that's one of the things I thought of.

Fantastic rant!!

that's the one.

makes sense, since that part of Texas is more closely tied to the Deep South.

When I first moved to Texas in 1993, there were certain things I heard that swore I would never say (many originated in east Texas, which is more country and less cowboy)...which of course I know find myself saying without thinking.

I went to college in rural Central PA (Huntingdon) and the locals said it.

To quote Hank Hill: "North Texas? More like South Oklahoma!"

Only people I've ever met in Texas (lived here 21 years and traveled all over the state) who say "Howdy" casually are Aggies.

this quote from his statement "thorough consideration of issues that could bear on our national interest — including our security, safety, and environment" is large. It is laying the foundation for possible grounds for denying the project, which would extend the environmental review scope well beyond how it has been
