@Freddie DeBoer: First of all, it is so far from the worst things on the internet, it's not even in the same galaxy. Secondly, it is human to try to make sense of bad situations, to try to understand. #dianeschuler

@Vulcan Has No Moon: If you knew someone was an addict, or DWI, would you let your kids anywhere near a car where they were the driver?

@Agumen: What if just one reader of this post

@Agumen: This is so very well said, and I agree completely. Thanks for posting this. #dianeschuler

@Freddie DeBoer: If you've seen some of the things I've seen online, then I think worst thing is a stretch. But I agree in principle. This isn't a mystery that needs to be unravelled. They're gone and not coming back, and all that's left is the grief of the families involved. Speculation seems unnecessary and cruel.

@dcetstyle: Whether she CHOSE not to confide in someone or if in fact felt like she couldn't, amounts to the same sense of isolation. #dianeschuler

@Vulcan Has No Moon: Oh God. I'm shaking with sorrow and rage. We can't judge or put ourselves exactly in their place, but I wish I could grab those kids - and any kids who are forced to ride with a drunk/high adult - and get them out. Okay, breathing now. #dianeschuler

@Cairn: I hope my prior comment doesn't come across as sharp or snarky; if it did I apologize. This topic is distressing and I feel so much pain for everyone involved. #dianeschuler

@I_b_meh: Yes, I can. See my comment above. I'd be enraged, too ( as the Bastardis are). But I certainly wouldn't be talking to the media. Maybe I'd talk to him; maybe I'd talk to a psychologist; I sure wouldn't want to contribute to the three ring circus. #dianeschuler

Poor woman had NO ONE to confide in obviously. That shit WILL kill you even if you don't drive the wrong way on a highway full of vodka and weed. #dianeschuler

@jebash: I have a high tolerance and 10 shots of vodka would send me to the ER. #dianeschuler

@msQwerty: The higher the wall of denial, the heavier the hammer of rage.

I'm sorry, but people playing psychological detective and musing on things that are inherently unknowable like this is kind of the worst thing about the Internet. #dianeschuler

@ardentlilac: You're right - most of her friends say they had no idea, but one friend was very aware of her habits. I think she was probably living an incredibly segmented life. #dianeschuler

@jebash: In the article it says that her friends didn't know she smoked pot — or drank. It seems like their impressions of her, even as good friends, didn't reflect the full truth.

Just because some readers might not know and it's not mentioned in the post, but in addition to the Schulers' 2 year old daughter, her three nieces aged 5, 7, and 8 were also in the car and killed. #dianeschuler

i keep wondering if the wife had a secret lover who broke it off, and in her mad grief she downed the vodkas before she realized how drunk she was. and if she really never did drink much before this, that amount of alcohol would definitely send her out of control.

@msQwerty: I'm not entirely sure that a lawsuit is their motive. I would want closure and admission of an action if my family had been killed. And the man doesn't have to admit anything about his wife, if he simply kept quiet and stopped talking about how perfect his wife was, things would be a lot better for the

Isn't there seriously a lot of doubt here though about what actually happened? Like for some reason a fifteen minute trip took 3 hours, she seemed disoriented and confused in a way that would have suggested a stroke, stuff like that. Clearly the husband is sugarcoating her memory, but I think we can forgive him that,
