Sadly, biased as expected. You complained about the touch cover, but didn't try the type cover. Office is 'preview' just because it hasn't been officially released yet. A non-issue. And as far as 'pathetic' windows phone store, it's a misconception from non-users. Windows phones don't need many of the apps required on

Windows 8 has plenty of advanced features for enterprises - security, enhancements in remote desktop support (especially on a wan) etc, that make it interesting. User interface is what most users will notice, but the plumbing is really much better.

actually, if you're on the start screen, just start typing., no need to click anything.

Same way as in windows 7 - change display resolution, and select the 'make this my main monitor' option. You'll have to reboot after this (or maybe just logoff/on). As an alternative, type 'resolution' in the main screen, select settings, it should be right at the top. There used to be a hack to allow for snapping

You need to have a minimum resolution of 1024x768 for that to work. If you have an external monitor, set it as the primary monitor and it will work too.

If you have a keyboard, just press the windows key.

I'm thinking this would be perfect for my daughter, and my boss should buy me a PRO.

Lame. I hope he gets to manage Kanye and Bieber's twitter accounts.

Not so sure, it will not even have remote desktop (from the surface specs). MS is really making a point of setting up security on the PRO version, and positioning this as a home/entertainment device.

Actually, I don't think RT's can join a domain. But this certainly is perfect for a student who used to have an ipad to watch videos while in class, and a pc to do real work. Now in most cases you only need the Surface RT.

"The Surface's proprietary magnesium construction is strong as hell. At one point, a team leader brought out a Surface with skateboard wheels affixed to it and rolled back and forth standing on top. It barely flexed" - videos please !!!

Parents should realize that up to now, even if your kid had an ipad in school/college, you'd still need a pc to do actual work. This one comes with office, including onenote. No need for an additional pc in many cases. It's not just an entertainment device, it does real work.

Except this one comes with office. For a student, you don't need a pc in addition to your ipad to do actual work. This one will do.

one is flatter, the other one the keys stick out more

No, they already by a shittier brand at outrageous prices. It's called apple.

I really think their ads should say 'because you don't need an app for that'.

Actually, you don't need an app for that on windows phones, it's built-in.

Yep, I had the same thought! But to be fair, I feel like I'm hoarding shortcuts - there should be a better way to organize this (favorites for browser links isn't enough - too much old crap there, and I need local shortcuts too).
