Um... How do you do a “full restoration” when half of the unibody is gone? They want $35k for this husk of an E-Type.
The Nissan 370Z and GT-R are 10 years old now, but that EJ25 engine in the WRX STI has gone 15 years without meaningful gains. The BRZ was minimum viable effort for Subaru too. Will there even be more enthusiast Subarus?
There are still 106 BRZ tS listed on Autotrader. 6 months on, and still 1/5 of the 500-strong production run are still sitting in showrooms. Meanwhile, every special edition Porsche sells out in a week.
Oppo, I have a challenge for all y’all. It involves classic beater cars and a hypothetical endurance race. Behold:
0-60 in 6.2 seconds is pretty quick, especially for $23k. I think the 2-tone black roof works really well on this one too.
Lexus pioneered this genre but Chevy seems to be working hard to catch up. Which would you drive?
I swear, 5 years ago you could find a decent 1st or 2nd generation VW Bus for less than what this one’s going for now. $29,500. For a rusted-through shell with front-end damage. I don’t care how many windows it has.
My A/C system isn’t working. I lowered the windows, and am now air-cooled. Suddenly my net worth is appreciating faster than most stocks & bonds!
Oppo, riddle me this: I can’t find any aftermarket wheels for my MR2 that’ll actually clear the front suspension. The Konig Backbone wheels are 16x7 ET40, and barely clear the coilovers at stock height.
Hey Oppo, I’ve got an autocross question. My MR2 is aligned for max tire life currently (near zero camber & toe) but I’d like to have it set up better for autocross this weekend.
Which of you put a rotary engine in an MG Midget? The perfect storm of quirkiness and maintenance. I used to have a 1965 piston-engine Midget, and this rotary one is stirring up all kinds of want.
How are y’all doing this Friday? I’m getting my MR2 ready for tomorrow’s autocross once the Benz’s airbag is done.
Alternatively, MR2:Cone as Mustang:Crowd. My subframe repairs are done today, so I’ll be autocrossing for the first time in a while this weekend. Post your favorite autocross cars/setups!
There is a “project” 944 for a fairly nice price. It seems like these should be easy to wrench on (inline engine in the front) but also potentially a headache (rear transaxle/clutch placement). Good candidate to learn to wrench on?
We need more wedge car posts on Oppo, as you can never have too many wedges. I’m making the tag “Wedge Wednesday” for this. Honestly just use it any day of the week, wedges can be 24/7. Enjoy the wedge-itude responsibly :D
My MR2 needs a subframe replacement anyway. Maybe it’s time to go full M A D M A X M R 2. What does OPPO think?
The US-spec taillight & window setup was controversial (lights originally were IN the window) but I think that full-width extra window is immensely rad.
I made a thing. Avengers: Infinity War meme within.
To all Opponauts in exam season, I wish you all best of luck! Post vehicles that motivate you.
I can’t tell if this is a serious autocross monster or a stance build. Either way, I actually kind of like it! Always the answer.
