Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t exclusives the kind of thing that help prevent the market from becoming a monopoly? That instead of just Sony or just Nintendo or just Microsoft, exclusives keep the companies competing for consumer interest, instead of one dominating force.

Lots of money does not equal high quality for Star Trek. One need only compare Star Trek I and Star Trek II for the perfect example.

I couldn’t agree more.

‘Spock Amok’ is genuinely one of the funniest episodes of the entire franchise, imo. And it was the perfect palette-cleanser after ‘Memento Mori.’

Prestige Star Trek is absolutely right.

I miss that desperately. And I say this as someone who, by and large, has really enjoyed NuTrek.

For a split second I panicked thinking this meant that Williams had passed away...

It is without a doubt one of the most underrated shows of the 21st century, if not ever.

Oh yeah, I’m aware of those reasons. But at the same time, in the first couple seasons - before it started leaning hard into the near-future speculative fiction AI stuff - it had massive ratings. Nolan himself said they constructed it that way so they could start building more serialized and subversive material in the

Star Trek has always been at its strongest and most popular when it wasn’t exclusive and difficult to watch

I’ve wondered if the insistence on making NuTrek streaming is due not only to them wanting to use it to launch Paramount+, but also because it’s a struggle for them to get the right fans watching CBS. Like Supergirl, which lasted only a season before transferring over the CW. Or Person of Interest, which they

“Holland lacks rogue-ish charm” is the best description I’ve ever seen for why he was a terrible pick for Nathan Drake.

I dunno...Spock’s outburst was a bit over the top, imo.

Aw. For all that I struggled to get into the show, I’m really sad to hear this. :(

After all the projects they cancelled (especially Batgirl) and essentially killing off any and every other Snyder-verse adjacent film/potential film, only to double down on this one, even with the Ezra Miller of it all, if this turns out to be a bomb for WB, I’m pulling out all the Nelson Muntz Ha Ha memes I can find.

This week’s SNW was excellent. And Drumhead is one of my favorite TNG episodes.

I would also make the case that TOS often argued humanity couldn’t exist in any kind of paradise without losing what makes us fundamentally human. So ‘utopia’ can both be subjective, and perhaps somewhat unrealistic.

Okay, but I can’t believe a word that comes out of this man’s mouth.

I really enjoyed this episode. I know there’s often been a diversion of thought among the fandom as to whether or not the Federation is a utopia, or one that’s still in aspiring to that ideal. And I’ve always leaned far more toward the latter for a number of reasons. Also, I think using this topic to demonstrate how

Oh yeah they have tons of options. His return would be a piece of cake. And given the impact of the character on the fandom, he would be ideal to lead a new series. Preferably something in the 25th century with the Titan off having adventures of its own.
