Oh is that where the confusion lies? I guess most people do just that.

Huh, I could have sworn I heard the Celica GTS redline was 7500....maybe the only real difference is the cam switch point?
I think the Yamaha tune and 8500 rpm is just on the Elise, whereas the others had a “normal” 2zz that topped out in the 7k range. I could be wrong though.
You probably hate the hydraulic press channel too.
An MR-2 does have a small frunk. Big enough for a weekend bag. It’s not a lot, but not “literally nowhere to put things” either.
It’s the same engine family, yes, but not the same engine. This MR-2 uses a 1ZZ I think, the federal Elise uses a 2ZZ (with some additional work by Yamaha and about 50 more hp).
I’ll never understand why this wasn’t a factory option on this car. Hell, even a NA 2ZZ!
Drag racing would be pretty boring without the sound of it.
Why not just reopen the race facilities that already exist?
I didn’t realize they could tell the difference...

I still think it’s insane to even grant temporary licenses without a test? What demonstrated need is there for that?
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
This is a take as old as infotainment screens. Also: they should have mandated tactile look-free controls for basic car functions when they mandated backup cameras. Putting that stuff on a touch screen is lunacy.
I mean, it’s a golden opportunity for some privateer team to win overall. If I had a million bucks laying around I’d be looking real hard at buying a P2 drive.
It’s starting to feel all-around like we’ve already seen the best high-profile internal-combustion racing we’ll ever see. When this is all over, the big manufacturers will probably all generally be more money conscious for at least a while as they try to recover financially. So, F1- and Prototype-level spending will…
Pit stops weren’t really that much of a thing in the 70s. Not like they are today anyway.
Was gonna chime in with this, which I saw run at Goodwood.
They should seal it in laquer like they do with Le Mans winners.
