Yeah, I pretty well gave up on the anti-GMO crowd almost a decade ago after giving some public lectures. They were so out of touch with the research and technologies surrounding them it was not worth my time. Fortunately, every year that goes by without their predicted GMOcalypse occurring makes their arguments seem

Good for Carter, it's nice to actually get heart felt non-sound byte opinions from these guys sometimes, and not a simple, "My dad hit me and I turned out fine,".

My father was loving and caring when I was a child - and he still is. That said, he grew up in an old-school, southern baptist family and he mimicked that style as a young parent because that was the model he had to go by (I am the oldest child). When I got trouble I was spanked by hand, a wooden paddle, and less

My family took care of foster children who were victims of abuse, neglect, and pretty much anything you could think of. It's unfortunately, an epidemic in our country and I've seen it's destruction in real life. Kids don't come out of it better, they come out worse.

Al I have to say is, men who were abused or witnessed their mother being abused as a child are TWICE as likely to commit the same abuse as adults. Now take "I was beaten and turned out fine" comments, and GET THE FUCK OUT.

P.S.

Fuck yeah, Cris Carter.

Take him off the doggone field. Because you know what? As a man, that's the only thing we really respect. We don't respect no women, we don't respect no kids. The only thing Roger and them do—take him off the field, because they respect that.

I saw this live [one of the rare occasions I actually watch the show] and I was both amazed and moved by CC. Dude spoke truth at a level no one else on that panel could keep up with and I'm proud of him for being big enough to put his heart out there like that.

Thanks for sharing your story - not easy but there are some people who think 'hey if I went thru it and came out fine, then it should build character in my own kids.' I don't think they realize it's a cycle of abuse they have the ability to end.

You saw the photos, correct? And know that the boy is only 4 years old? If so, go fuck yourself. If not, get informed.

Why are some people so fucking terrible?

I'm glad he said those things. No one should hit a child. I'm sorry but if you spank, slap, punch or use any physical abuse on a small human being who has no way of defending him or herself you have failed as a parent.

it's not just your opinion. Countless studies have proven spanking/hitting/striking children to be at best a fools errand and at worst a total fucking disaster.

It seems to get lost on all these "my momma did it and I turned out fine" idiots that this kid was FOUR YEARS OLD. Hitting a 4 year old for misbehaving is like hitting a puppy for shitting in the house.

And then Ditka and Keyshawn stepped in to glorify their fatherly asskickings. Ugh.

Agreed. It drives me crazy how sports issues are always instantly reframed into political issues with the usual liberal/conservative split. One of the glimmers of silver lining in the Rice thing is that, to a pretty large extent, that didn't happen. The anger with Rice and Goodell came from across the spectrum. But

I have mentioned in a previous post that my mom raised 4 kids by herself. She took her frustrations and anger out on us, she beat the hell out of us with anything and everything within reach ( switch, extension cords, vacuum cleaner extension, pots, etc.)I love my mom, she did the best she could but she was wrong. It

I respect and actually enjoy Chris Carter's analysis, especially his thoughts on this. Whupping a child imo, doesn't really have a positive effect on Children. Especially 4 year olds who have none/or very little cognitive ability.
