Now playing

Can this new season of Black Lightning lighten up just a little? I enjoyed the last season but it took me forever to get through it was such a depressing slog. I can see genocidal policy towards minorites in America in real time, thank you very much.

Wonderful news!

We’re through the looking glass here people

I can only assume that the big difference between COVID-19 and COVID-23 is that the latter’s symptoms include shitty editing and bursting into flames in a fwooshy gasoline explosion.

One thing I love about ‘70s era posters is that there’d always be that one actor credit with the name of the character they were playing. Like for Alien: “Yaphet Kotto as Parker.” I always wondered how they determined who got that spot.

Two movies I’m dying to see are Candyman and Shang-Chi. I can’t Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung are in the MCU.

Even Gene Roddenberry wasn’t averse to showing that 24th century humanity had flaws. Tasha Yar, a character whose backstory was developed entirely on Roddenberry’s watch, came from a failed colony where humans devolved into anarchy and “rape gangs.”

Three people on your ship you probably don’t want to have a PTSD break, Tactical/Securtiy, Medical, and Navigation officers.

Removed from the release schedule is not the same as ‘cancelled’, certainly in the current situation. They may just be avoiding committing to a release date until people are actually going to theaters again.

I loved that Michael’s recap log used the TNG-era stardate system— stardate 865211.3 correctly places this episode in 3189.

TOS and TNG were made at the height of American imperial power. *Of course* they represented a stable, prosperous future.

So much PTSD. Battle of the Binary Suns, losing Giorgiou, traveled to the Mirror Universe, then Lorca is evil, then the loss of Airiam, then Control, then traveling to the future, then being basically flung out of her seat...

I’d like to offer you a different viewpoint. Though I’ll note I don’t entirely disagree with you.

Well damn. Looks like far more had roles than I even considered. I knew about most of TNG. But I didn’t pick up Kate Mulgrew or Nichelle Nichols!

...the Michael Bay-produced covid-19 action/romance, Songbird, set in 2024 where the viral disease has mutated into the even deadlier covid-23.

Agreed, Detmer has been through the ringer since episode 1, so that tracks.

I’m glad I waited until now to jump on to ST:D, having only watched clips and read synopses in the past. I’ve really enjoyed S3 these episodes so far. IMO they probably should have led with this premise during the first season somehow, and avoided all of the retconning of old Trek (though I understand that Pike and

A solid, if not amazing, episode.

Eh...I’m torn. A Gargoyles revival likely means Greg will do one of those spinoffs he was trying to do in the comics. I’m especially wary of the “Brooklyn gets sent to the future to help Demona stop an alien invasion” plot.
