I always attributed the disappearance of socks to Mr. Tumnus and his ilk. Perhaps they're the ones creating/powering the black holes.

I did that for 3 years. OTA provided NFL, some CFB and CBB and a smidge of hockey. But streaming futbol, baseball, etc. just became a pain after a while. I agree with your stated principle but the execution became cumbersome.

I was cable-free and pretty content for 3 years; HD Antenna with WMC/XBMC for pvr plus downloading and netflix. But I really really missed live sports. Streaming through ATDEE and other sites gets old after a while. Recently signed up for Comcast and basic cable was included. Now Verizon FiOS has moved into my area

Hi Whitson, I was looking at this build and wondered why there's no CPU cooler. Isn't that a normal part of a build? Also, if one has a NAS or separate storage, why not an SSD? Thanks.

Also possible on a Chromecast via Plex and a couple other apps. But can I take Roku to a friend's place and access my Media Center's content remotely? (Again, that's possible on Chromecast).

Somewhat tangentially, I did a search on hackintoshing a laptop and found a 3 year old Lifehacker article by Adam Pash saying it's not advisable. Is that still true? It would be pretty killer to buy a (cheaper) PC laptop and install OS X on top of it. Just curious.

I didn't hate Ironman 3 but I felt the franchise was just... tired. As if the characters thought that Ironman was too much of a burden. I'm not a Ironman comic book fanboy; I enjoyed Ironman 1 but Ironman 3 felt played out.

when, oh, when will it be free?! Actually I started paying for Plex Pass just to get this functionality and may continue doing so just to support a great product like Plex so ummm nevermind.

ICE = internal combustion engine.

And, I would also bet that the 'outrage' from the demotion would have been less if there wasn't a famous cartoon dog of the same name.

I keep coming back to this article and staring at your workspace. I don't do any gaming, nor do I work remotely so I don't necessarily have need for something similar. But want... Want... WANT!!

I wouldn't have said EVIL until you mentioned our beloved Reader. <tear> I still miss it. Moved to NetVibes, now on Feedly. It does the job. Just not as well.

philqb2, do you put this concoction straight into the water compartment of your carpet shampooer or is it in place of the solution that's normally separate from the water compartment?

Another advantage of the chromecast is portability. It's easy for me to take my chromecast over to my girlfriend's place, plug it in, connect on my phone and then use the plex plus or netflix or other apps to cast from my phone to her TV. I don't think that ATV or Roku, despite their small size, were designed with

I don't remember what first brought me to Lifehacker but the XBMC/HTPC/build a PC articles have proven to be the most useful for me. I still love reading the updates when they come out even if Imm not in the market for something new.

This gives me hope, haha. I'm trying to work towards this seemless setup. (I have windows XBMC rather than linux). I just recently got the HDHomeRun Prime 3-tuner with Comcast CableCard. I'm using WMC for liveTV and recording. Then I use MCEBuddy to shrink the recorded shows and drop them into my Series folders, which

Agreed. Pittsburgh and St. Louis have both had very precipitous drops... St Louis' perhaps not as quickly, as steeply as Pittsburgh's. Baltimore has had a long steady decline. Detroit by contrast has had a short, quick drop from 5th to 12th-ish? Sad but not extreme.

With retirement and investment accounts, you can usually build-in increases to trigger automatically. I have a built-in 1% annual increase in my 401(K) deductions. Started out at 10%, now I'm at 15%. I don't even have to think about it; it just happens at the start of the year.

ok, I wasn't sure if there was anything more to it.
