I’m enjoying the periodic attention Jalopnik is giving to the MR2 over the past couple of years.

I know all I need to know, it don’t come in 2 door hatchback to the US anymore. So I’ll keep my 07 till the day one of us dies!

Say what you want about Apple and Jobs, but they normally only made changes if it was a practical ergonomic improvement. Everyone since the beginning of touchscreens has admitted that they suck, but the flexibility made them worth the investment. This car needs a fob. It needs some semblance of normalcy or

Celebrating the demise of a disliked tv show makes no sense at all. Let me introduce you to one of the greatest inventions of all time: the Off button.

It amazes me how cavalierly people cut off 18-wheelers in traffic.  Even if I’m 100 yards ahead of them I’m still weary of cutting over, but just with inches to spare ... it’s insane.

This guy and his T-shirt are everything.

This is what makes me really want to go to Radwood. they really need to do an east coast one.

About a year ago I had a similar moment, exposed to a rare-as-hens-teeth common car, or in this case a truck. It was a 1986-1/2 Nissan Hardbody XE 4x4 pickup. Maybe 25,000 miles on it, had been someone’s grand-dad’s truck since new and likely never carried anything more than some plants and a few 2x4's home from the

From about 1988 to 2012, my mother drove only Ford Escorts. She had 4 of them and I think they all went over 200k miles. The best part is that none of those Escorts had a slushbox.

I have always loved the Escort GT. Snorty Mazda engine, just enough different from the regular Escort to be interesting. I especially like how the seat piping matches the exterior color.

Why would anyone on this blog be surprised that these people are taking care of these cars as well as they are. I would think that people who are such fans of cars would think that this is normal. I have had some new cars that were extremely cheap, but were well maintained and looked like new when I decided to trade

I liked this post, David. Jalop needs more of this kind of thing.

Meticulously maintained bad cars are the best cars.

Fewer stories about Elon Musk/Tesla more stories like this please.  Please.  Really, pretty please.  More stories like this.

Yes, it’s totally awesome to have the only existing and remaining mint 1992 Ford Escort!

I have oodles of respect for people who restore and maintain these “boring” cars that nobody else would care about. I kinda want to do the same thing with my mom’s ‘99 Saturn SW2 at some point. It’s got 120,000 miles, a bit of peeling clear coat, a falling down headliner, a squeaky clutch pedal, broken A/C and more

Regardless of what it is, I really want to meticulously maintain my next new car. Ted is a goddamn inspiration and seeing how well he cared for his car makes my heart swell.

That’s the funny thing about these Meh cars, or the Malaise Era cars is that everyone talks about how shitty they were (especially the American ones) and yet all the cars you posted in that article ARE domestic cars. They are the ones who survived, not the so-called superior Japanese cars of the 80's and 90's. I

Ha! That Ford Escort GT, I saw one in the same color and same spec in near-as-mint a shape as that one at the local McDonald’s here in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia a few months back - even took a pic because I knew how rare it was, especially here in the road-salt-murders-every-car land known as Canada!

Love the wheels on

Nothing says “early 90's” like that shade of teal.
