Oh, I absolutely agree you have a right to tell people from other cultures what you think is right and wrong. Perhaps you even have an obligation to do so. Though, that can get murky- different cultures certainly have different values, some perhaps better than others.

People (Americans) don't accept things in Wisconsin or Rhode Island because they don't have to, and can change those things.
Americans have no right, nor real ability, to tell people in Oman or Sudan what the fuck to do.

+1 but in all honesty, Lviv is the heartland anti-Russian western Ukraine. Even if Putin goes after the east, he won't go that far.

I totally understand what you're saying, I've actually struggled with picking a Premier League team because I don't want to root for a big one as well (I also find myself disgusted with English soccer after trying to watch 3 weeks in a row on TV, so I don't stick around too long). I usually end up cheering for

People have short memories. It's only been the last decade (really the last 5 years) that has seemed like such a two horse race. The T.V. money situation will change eventually.

That being said, become a Deportivo fan! No one will fault you for being a front runner for that. And at least you have a storied

This whole thing reminds me of when Raul was dropped from the Spain squad. As much as it hurts, hopefully it has the same positive repercussions.

I haven't read the book, but considering episode 8 is named "The Mountain and the Viper", I think i can make a decent guess as to who fights in the trial by combat...

I'm surprised Rome is so low!

Agree on your other points, but I don'k know a single person who could be considered an NJ Nets fan who still supported them after the move

I'm reading what is probably the best biography in print of an amazing, amazing, man.

The overwhelming majority of the banks are in Midtown now anyway. Only one or two are actually on Wall St, which exist mainly as a tourist hell hole.

My friends and I have two rival factions, the "Sacred Band" and the "Brotherhood of the Wolf", consisting of the circumcised and un-circumcised members of our friend group. We are locked in eternal conflict and shall be so for the rest of eternity. To the death!

And yes, I know it's not a myth. I just wanted to vent, darn it!

Ugh, I've waited my whole life for a proper Hollywood epic concerning Hannibal Barca. So many good ingredients for an amazing film!

"No one man has been blessed with all God's gifts. You, Hannibal, know how to gain a victory; but you do not know how to use it."

Deals are still to be had in Manhattan. I've paid around $1100 for the past three years in 3 different neighborhoods south of 14th street. Above 110th you can get even better deals. You just need to be single and have roommates.

There's a lot of fun "What if?" situations to be had there. Considering most of Europe at the time was preoccupied with Frederick II and the Pope's bickering, it's tough to see much cooperation happening (The Pope at the time frequently referred to Frederick II as the anti-Christ). To go even further down the rabbit

Thanks! I feel like it's pretty easy to forget that a sense of humor isn't a recent invention. These guys made my day.

Can anyone explain if there is any symbolism behind these awesome gargoyles? I can't find anything on google :(

I took a class on the Mongols in college, and did my research paper on Tsubodai. Fascinating stuff. Amazing to think of the different paths history could have taken if the Khan hadn't died during Tsubodai's European campaign.
