Fun, unrelated fact about Whidbey Island: I have never seen so many bald eagles as I saw on Whidbey Island.

You have no idea how much my then-fiancée loved this movie.

My stars.

Oh, chill. There’s a difference between appreciating the hardware itself and fetishizing the military, especially when it comes to aviation.

AMARG is NOT just a USAF facility. The Navy, USMC and Coast Guard used to have a separate boneyard in Goodyear, outside Phoenix, but it closed in 1970. AMARG is now the federal government’s sole aviation boneyard.

I have NEVER heard of a bank “canceling” a credit card because it was being paid off??

Most vulnerable time for the DESRON shown.

“4th gens are at a significant disadvantage in any scenario like Bosnia”

I was under the impression that Sikhs are pacifist for some reason?

I was being generous and assuming that the weekly aviation refueling could do the same for the baby carriers. In truth, I know a lot more about CVN ops than amphib ops. If nothing else, it’d require refueling even with no air wing aboard.

Concurrency...

If allowing China to abscond with our allies’ internationally-recognized territorial waters like a 19th- or early 20th-century imperial power is okay with you, well, that’s your POV.

Smaller carriers need to be refueled about as often as their aircraft do. (Once a week, or thereabouts) Also, as others have mentioned, more carriers means more escorts.

Electric catapults? You mean the electric catapults designed for the Ford that don’t work?

Part of the reason the Blues are more impressive than the T-birds is that the Blues fly bigger aircraft. T-birds are almost as tight, but with relatively more room to spare.

If XH558 were a black guy in America, he’d be shot by now

I <3 gas turbines. There’s just something so awesome about a giant boat powered by a FREAKIN’ JET ENGINE.

Horrifying, however it happened. Yet, also fascinating. Good read, Tyler.

Well recounted. Have always loved the CF-105, much like the TSR-2, XB-70, XF-108, etc.
