Are you also smoking Marb Lights? Because if so, boom welcome to 2003.

NYCBrit got to what I was trying to say to you more eloquently than I did. Probably because he’s British. Also because I too have had a long day. Have a great weekend and enjoy a cold beverage.
Actually I think it was the air suspension that went out at the dealership. Or was that the sunroof leak. Oh well, who can keep track anymore.
To be fair, they tried to use Doug’s Land Rover first but the check engine light went on as soon as he pulled out of the driveway.
Moving away from the dumb sniping over who drank what how fast, I think what the NTSB was trying to say is they believe .05 would be a good place to set the bar, but they wouldn’t disagree with someone that wanted to be more aggressive.
I’m not sure why you shifted the conversation from prosecuting DUI to prosecuting shitty cops. Both of those things should be prosecuted, I don’t think we’re in disagreement on this.
Any type of chart is going to be flawed to the point of being nearly useless because its based in a vacuum which doesn’t exist in the real world. That’s why you don’t see governmental organizations (NHTSA, NTSB, USDOT) putting out “official” numbers. They’re estimates.
You’re the one that pulled in the chart, I’m simply utilizing it. Unless we’re just going to play the pick and choose game.
Frankly I don’t believe you reach a .019 on one average sized lager over a twenty minute span if you’re as big as you suggest. Like, I would put physical US currency on that bet. But hey, we’re here on the internet where anecdotes rule the day.
By your own math “two drinks with dinner” in a vacuum (which is stupid because you’re not considering absorption rate, composition of the drink, time between drinks) would add up to .038 blood alcohol level, which is demonstrably lower than the limit being discussed by the article.
I’m well aware of that part, thanks. That’s why I said .05 is reasonable. Beyond that I think you’re wandering into MADD levels of prohibition.
I don’t think a .05 is unreasonable. Two drinks at dinner, if you chugged them on an empty stomach, would put you to approximately a .06 BAC. Assuming standard beer/wine/shot of liquor.
Oh look, and by your own chart’s admission those numbers constitute “Driving Skills Significantly Affected.”
B-b-b-but the National Institute of Health has an agenda!
A) Wrong. B) Wrong. C) I’m a responsible adult that doesn’t see the need to get behind the wheel of a 3,000 pound moving object after consuming alcohol. A $20 taxi ride is a lot cheaper than the fines and jail time I’d face with a DUI, let alone the emotional and psychological toll I’d incur on myself if I hurt…
Same. I had to bury my aunt and my uncle in the same week when I was 10 years old. One killed by a drunk driver and the other died of a heart attack the next day. With the prevalence of Uber and Taxis there’s zero reason to drive home after drinking* except for your own selfishness.
Great, now the Xenomorph Queen is going to break free.
