Because caving to social pressures is the new norm. Teach everyone who isn’t a white male (or Asian, or Indian) to immediately feel victimized by everything that doesn’t go their way.

I’m no fan of Uber, and the gender discrepancy is glaring, but the racial/ethnic make up of the company almost perfectly mirrors the racial/ethnic make up of San Francisco, the city in which Uber is based. The Hispanic/Latino percentage at Uber, however, lags behind the same for SF.

Why is a lack of diversity always the fault of the company (or the Oscars). And why is the solution to force people of color into said positions just to balance out the color wheel? It seems looking at the root of the issue is never an option.
