Isn't the really scary part here is that Johnny Depp is going to sing again?

I recall an inteview with Connery where he said he was offered Gandalf by Jackson, but passed because he didn't want to commit to the long shooting schedule (he also passed on Morpheus in "The Matrix" because he didn't understand the story). It was just a pair of bad role choices late in his career, especially when

Yeah, even a silly chase movie like Logan's Run had political subtext (dont' trust anyone over 30!)

Children of Men is a great movie, but it wasn't a box office hit, and I don't even think it was unanimously praised by critics. Hard to say it's politically influential when most people refer to it as ""that movie with all the great long takes".

I also liked how he worked in a gray area, where it could be interpreted either way. In the Dark Knight, I remember thinking that it was advocating some kind of right wing law and order ideology, then Nolan throws in the scene where Morgan Freeman thinks Batman's overstepped the line with the radar gadget that tracks

Late to the discussion, but I would've added Cronenberg's "The Fly", which came out as AIDS was becoming part of the cultural conversation. I remember many people making the allegorical connection, and I think it still holds up in that light. Certainly moreso than Avatar, which I didn't even dislike, but I remember

frankly, same themes, better movie than "The Matrix". Holds up better, too.

Will never understand what people see in this guy: he's just another music video director with a good eye for art direction and production design, and no idea how to tell a story. You know , a director's most important job.

Halfway through this trailer, I started to get a weird Anthony Weiner vibe.

I think it was Virginia Madsen with the cello. That movie is nearly impossible to find nowadays.

I saw his name on another article, but if they're going with an older Batman, I think that pretty much excludes him.

He's probably not a big enough star, but I thought Wes Bentley was a pretty good choice before Bale got the role. He'd be in the right age range now, assuming he is really over his drug issues.

For some reason, when I think "single dad of teenager and inventor", Marky Mark isn't the first person that comes to mind.

I haven't seen the new Wolverine, but didn't the movies start watering him down back in XMen 2? Wasn't that the one where they started having him do cutesy things with his claws like almost kill a kitten? Don't know if it was a director, producer, or actor decision, but I always thought that was where the character

That second one about looking under the bed is absolutely brilliant. Such a great set up and your brain fills in the rest.

The good news is that it has my all time favorite kind of shot: the villain standing in a pillar of fire laughing maniacally.

This looks great, and definitely a must see in IMAX 3D. I just hope its not 2 hours of her flipping around, that the story and character lives up to the effects.

Agree with you: Fun, well made, but forgettable. I expect way more from DelToro than just being better than Michael Bay. They could just have named the characters Maverick and Iceman for how much they ripped off Top Gun.

Unless I missed something, the lead character was American, just played by a dull as plaster actor. Maybe people just didn't want to see it, and not because it had anything to do with patriotism or politics, but because so many of the characters were Top Gun ripoffs.

Unlike those movies, this is made by a world class filmmaker. That's the difference.
