I worked as a checker for years as well and share this frustration. I had to shake my head when I read, “If you get good at it, you can walk out with a cart of groceries in less time than it would take a checker to scan and bag them for you.” No way. A competent checker will beat these awful machines every single time.
Just to score the replies here...
My guess is that we grow things in California for a reason; that if there were places to grow the things we do elsewhere, we’d already be growing them there.
Where would that be?
Good thing the question wasn't about "need" but about what makes "middle class." It's convenient how you're just ignoring that.
I'm looking forward to it only insofar as I use Office 2013 on my Windows machine at work, so assuming the commands are laid out in a similar manner, this will make it easier for me to switch between the two.
Correct. See: Ratings, Yelp.
Seriously, truly. BENGHAZI!!!!1 is only a thing because Republicans continue to push it. There's no "there" there. If they'd quit wasting everyone's time and money in an effort to discredit Clinton, then CNN etc. wouldn't have anything to report.
You do understand that the purpose of this blog is to review and critique new technology...don't you?
I'm disappointed as well. This never should have been released. Part of the Apple cache is that it "just works." That's not as true nowadays as it used to be; but the one thing Apple's hardware had going for it was that "cheap and stunted" was never an option. All but the most demanding users could buy any of Apple's…
Your first headline says "Organic Diet Results in Lower Pesticide Load," which is inaccurate and misleading according to the text that follows, which describes a study that looked at concentrations of just one insecticide. More accurate would have been "Organic Diet Results in Lower Load of One Pesticide In Particular.…
I see. I latched on to the "because she doesn't want to be seen as needy" part of your comment.
these must be naturally occurring substances and must go through EPA testing to show that they are nontoxic to humans and the environment
Barely relevant: I once saw an episode of House Hunters or some such where one of the individuals couldn't get past the idea of a "used" house. She had to have a new build. I was astonished.
If our politicians actually supported these programs rather than using the word "taker" to refer to people availing themselves of social services, that stigma your MIL is afraid of would go away.
As somebody whose work sometimes bleeds over from 9 to 5, having my email on my phone actually gives me more freedom. Otherwise my options are (1) carrying around a second phone, or (2) making sure I'm somewhere near a computer.
I hate this trend. "Lots of people are making this mistake, so it's okay now." Sort of like how "literally" now also means "figuratively."
Believe it or not, the PIDS on Metro are almost 15 years old!
