Try “The Man from Earth” (2007). A fascinatingg sci-fi movie that could be done as a high school play. According to IMDB it’s budget was $200,000. It’s just people sitting in a cabin talking but it had my wife and I glued to our seats.

The movie wasn’t bad...but god the book was so much fun. I never got to read the sequel, and just found out that there’s a third book coming out in October. Did you have any thoughts on the sequel?

I read JDatE shortly after it was published online (around 2004), and I still to this day think about the scene where one character says that video games where the whole point is to shoot something that looks human didn’t exist a month ago, but now they’re here and people talk like they’ve been around for ages and are

Ah you are so, so wrong sir. Safety Not Guaranteed was one of my all time faves. Humor, Romance and Sci-Fi all rolled up in one and the ending was fantastic. Aubrey Plaza is a treasure.

My favorite movie on this list is probably Take Shelter...

Ya seriously Split was quite good. Also James McAvoy deserves some recognition for his role, he gave a one man acting class on screen.

I’d like to add Split a 9 million budget and a great movie. It shows a great actor with a good script is often worth far more then millions in effects budgets.

I tried thinking about it, and then realized that in order to fairly critique the claim, I’d have to watch The Phantom Menace again.

Sorry, I don’t pick on crazy people. ;-)

By far one of the best salutes in cinematic history.

It’s still one of my top Mel Brooks’ films. As a kid I loved all the stupid puns. Now, my favourite parts are about human nature - from small things like password selection stupidity to nepotism and general incompetence of leaders.

To be fair, it doesn’t feel like anybody involved with the making of Spaceballs was actually all that familiar with Star Wars. That’s a big part of its charm.

Somewhat beloved?

It’s pretty astonishing that he didn’t watch the films!

Cities that treat adults like adults? Weird.

The quickest, easiest, and most effective way they could deescalated the situation was to simply leave. They didn’t have to engage her. They didn’t have to stay. They were there to check out a burglary report. Once she became hostile, they could have simply walked away. That is the one thing I can’t understand from

“Whitcomb replied that the officers were “suffering” in the aftermath of the shooting”

I just go with “assholes”.
