I gotta go with Sheriff Jack Carter from Eureka. I always thought he was one of the most realistic depictions of parenting on TV, not only with Zoe, but also with his surrogate/step kids in Kevin and Jenna. Dude had to grapple with divorce, rebelliousness, special needs, knowing when to hold on and when to let go, and…

Oh man. That episode with Sisko appearing every decade or so was the first and only time in my life that a TV show made me openly weep. That was some damn fine writing and acting.
