Wait, what? For one thing Pacific Rim wasn't exactly a hit. For another, it had no preexisting fans who could be disappointed — unless you mean Kaiju fans. And as you said yourself, there's a vocal group of Trek fans who seem to hate the Abrams films. Denying their existence doesn't make it so.
