In the real world, “people saying mean things to you” is just life.

No, they didn’t. Will Smith has reached out to him and apologized publicly. I don’t recall Jada ever saying anything publicly about Chris Rock.
This is a horrible take, because Jon Stewart’s approach doesn’t work. Just like this guy didn’t change his mind despite being absolutely destroyed, no Republican will. They will just retreat back to their bubble and be reaffirmed and brainwashed in their position.
I have no idea why AV Club is dying on this “hate the MCU” hill. AV Club’s own review is a B- which is the exact same rating as Avengers: Endgame.
People are not “antiwork/anti-capitalist”. That’s an extreme exaggeration in your mind for justification of your behavior. 97% of people have jobs, go to work, and they want to excel in their job and for their company to have success.
The budget before P&A was $200M. It’s at $273M before the close of the second weekend. They need $400-$500 to break even.
It’s not even a flop by Marvel standards. It has a higher than expected opening, and is making a boatload more than the first two. The user score on Rotten Tomatoes is 84% which is about middle of the road for Marvel movies.
That’s a perfectly reasonable opinion. My only question is if that’s good or bad? The movies were always unsteady in quality and character reach.
I actually said that people are trained to laugh off jokes, but you read right past that part.
Counterpoint: There’s nothing wrong, but critics want too much.
After seeing it, I really don’t understand the bad reviews. They have this ranked below the Eternals in their rankings which is absolutely absurd. It’s a solid, middle of the road MCU film. At this point, middle of the road is pretty good.
Or you can use common sense to determine if is was reasonable for the person to be offended. The problem is that there are many, many people who abuse the fact that they basically face no repercussions for being complete jerk to people. You can constantly insult people, and the victims have to take it.
I’ve been married 20 years. I think she likes me some...
The reality is that neither person in the situation was a good person. Both should have been cancelled. Chris Rock for the insult that antagonized Will Smith and Will Smith for the slap.
Yes, I should not have insulted them. If I do wrong, then I face the consequences. You’re not supposed to be able to treat people terrible and expect that they will not get angry.
First off, you don’t get to decide what offends someone else. You’re just whatabouting to make it seem like what Chris Rock did was okay, because you’re the type of person who makes jokes at other’s expense. You don’t want to acknowledge that you likely hurt a lot of people, and my comment was a wakeup call. You’re…
Chris Rock is a terrible person. He’s not a hero.
I wouldn’t say long history. Dee Barnes got paid and Dre got fined and probation. It was handled within the legal system and he served his punishment.
I’mnot sure you can call a film “bad”, because that’s a singular opinion.
Why not invite Will Smith then let him slap Andrea Riseborough if she wins for a movie no one has or likely will ever see? Will gets back in with a new bad boy image, Andrea gets her sham award, the Academy get ratings, AV Club gets months worth of hot takes to mine, and all the mad people get redemption.
