Unfortunately it is the official motto of the US. Until the 50s there wasn’t an official motto, but the de facto motto was “E Pluribus Unum”, which made sense what with the whole democracy thing. And that’s been on the US seal since the late Eighteenth Century. The God bullshit was in reaction to anti-communist

Oh goodness. If you read it, bring a strong stomach. My girlfriend was reading it recently and the descriptions of what happened to those poor women were so gruesome that I couldn’t bear listening to her read aloud from it.

Ditto. I know that someone at the gym keeps changing the channel to Fox News so...they’re out there. Somewhere...

If the people he has to meet are Trump supporters...does he have to meet more people?

Gates is also incredibly strapped for cash apparently. So he can’t fuck around as much as the others.

They’ll never turn on him because they more or less agree with him. I mean he’s crass as heck and is obviously a moron, but the white supremacy and immiseration of the poor and savaging of the environment (and everything else) are all pretty standard fare for the modern GOP. And their voters are even worse, somehow.

I mean so long as our survival is predicated on Republicans doing something for the good of the country we are absolutely fucked. Trump won’t face any consequences because his fellow party members are just as evil as he is. (Just not as stupid. Except Louie Gohmert.)

I don’t think Republicans can feel shame...

Apparently that depends on the state. In New York if at least one person knows the conversation is being recorded it’s fine. I think.

She and her husband both. They’re so god damn creepy.

Oh I love Modern Art! I just think MoMA is a terrible museum with an excellent collection. Like, the building sucks out loud and diminishes the experience of seeing anything there. For me at least.

New York offers a city ID that doesn’t require you prove your legal status in order to receive it.

London is punishingly expensive. Some of the museums are free but the food and drink sure as hell isn’t. Isn’t it usually ranked one of the most expensive cities in the world?

The building is on public land, and originally the idea was that it would be free. When they went from free to pay-what-you-will in the 70s, there was a huge outcry. There’s been this drift as they’ve tried to plug holes in their budget, but frankly the city and trustees should pitch in and plug that hole. Not

MoMA, in New York, is $25. And that’s their competition. (Even though the Met is such a superior museum it SHOULDN’T be a competition. Ugh. I hate MoMA.)

Exactly. I’m so tired of people acting like these people don’t have any agency at all. They made their fucking choice knowing full well what they were doing.

Absolutely. If I had just sold a tequila company for an actual billion dollars, my best friend would absolutely get a house. As for the suitcases...I dunno! Whenever I travel I wish I had nicer luggage, but it’s never anything I think to buy. From that angle it’s pretty thoughtful!

I don’t think he can stop himself. I also doubt he thinks it’s sexual harassment. Now that I think about it, it would be interesting* to hear him try to define it.

I bet there’s more bad Russia news. Or rather, evidence of financial crimes (which he has almost certainly committed because come on). I cannot imagine he believes his supporters would care about him being horrible to a woman. Or even assaulting a woman on camera. Being a vile misogynist is pretty on brand, after all.

Were the initial allegations more specific than that he screwed around on his girlfriends and wives a bunch? Like, obviously not good. But I didn’t realize there were like Louis CK level rumors.
