The tail lamps are in the incorrect position for 1973. The later CJ5 had bigger lights in this position, however, the older Fives had them lower, at the bottom of the tub. I’m not sure as to what point you’re making. The 308 Michelotto and the 288 GTO were homologated rally cars.

Not exactly. The 288 GTO was an evolution of the 308 Michelotto. The GTO changed the engine orientation, added turbochargers, and lengthened the wheelbase. The 288 GTO never raced, for a number of reasons. (The biggest being that it was 2wd when everything went AWD.)

Thankfully, the government is diligently protecting us from the scourge of foreign cars.

Just got rid of a 2012 TDI Sportwagen with DSG. In the 35,500 miles that I owned it, it was absolutely the worst car I have ever owned. They can keep the new one.
