This weekend I went to a steampunk convention called Clockwork Alchemy, which is conveniently held about 15 minutes from where I live in San Jose. Steampunk is something I’ve been interested in for a few years now, and this was the second year in a row I’ve gone to this convention. As with most genre conventions,…
I mostly lurk on GT these days, but I thought I should pop in for a very important update. Some of you might remember - I know at least WillTheyorWontThey does - that I moved to San Jose and soon had to deal with the landlord/housemate from hell. Well, my girlfriend and I finally moved out two weekends ago. At the end…
Hello, I’m a fennec fox, and it’s come to my attention that some people think we are unattractive because of our large ears. Excuse me, we are VERY cute.
It’s a new year, so a whole slew of new releases are on the horizon and beyond. Case in point - I realized with glee this morning the third Captain America movie is now less than six months away.
A 45-minute loop of Nick “Ron Swanson” Offerman sipping whisky by a fireplace. I think this is especially needed after yesterday. Happy Holidays!
I stumbled upon this science news blurb this morning, and I thought it was too cool not to pass along to you fellow nerds here, especially because I checked and this doesn’t appear to have been posted anywhere on io9-Gizmodo.
Hey, GT, it’s been a while; I’ve mostly been lurking for various reasons, but I really need to vent about a weird (to me) job situation.
I know there’s a lot of crafty people here, and I need help identifying something. I’ve started teaching myself cross stitch, and it’s going pretty well, although I don’t really have any finished projects to show off (yet). Anyway, I was thinking it might be fun to make a keychain or two, especially like the one in…
The D23 Disney Expo was this weekend, and among other things, it offered fans the most up-to-date look at what’s going on at Marvel Studios, which notably skipped San Diego Comic Con this year. The two big items of interest were the films Captain America 3: Civil War and Doctor Strange.
I’m writing my first post here in a while just to say avoid the Lay’s Greektown Gyro chips. It’s one of the current special “Do Us A Flavor” varieties, and it’s not that great. I know some people are pretty gung-ho about trying the new, weird flavors, but to be honest, I had kind of forgotten about them until I saw a…
Spoilers today, sorry.
I watched the East Coast feed of it, and I’m just like WHAT?
UPDATE: I finally got around to calling customer service (the line is staffed until something like 8 p.m. PST). This call went completely opposite of my call the other day. All I said was I was double charged for June, and the rep asked me if I had bought a pass in addition to my auto-load. I said yes, and she took…
My apologies if this has been brought up elsewhere on io9/O-Deck, but it doesn’t seem like it has.
I asked this question on my Twitter yesterday, and it yielded some rather entertaining responses, so I’m going to throw it to the O-Deck. If you were in the Mad Max universe, what kind of vehicle would you create/drive? I would drive what I call the train from hell — a train engine + a few cars adapted for rail-less…
As promised, here is my account of the San Francisco Film Society event I went to, An Evening with Guillermo del Toro.
I managed to catch the Superman vs. Batman trailer last night, and one thing that struck me was how hard they're trying to push the idea of Superman as some sort of Christ-like figure, even more so than Man of Steel, which already contained some egregious Christian allegory.
