I love this painting no end. Though I do recall from the annotated version of the Hobbit that occupied hours of my time when I was a youth that Tolkien was annoyed at himself for painting Bilbo so large. Seems it made Smaug look too small for his tastes.

"Lieutenant Riker, please report to the tailor, Deck 5."

Temerarie series by Naomi Novik — all love is non-romantic, between humans and dragons, and everybody is loyal and upright.

You've already nailed it. Specifically, I would recommend the Witches and City Guard Discworld novels. The romance is minimal and absolutely practical at the same time, which makes it barely romance. And the humor is top-notch. The themes are thought-provoking in a non-"Oh gods why do I even go on living?!" kind

Yes, they're great. Dragons and the Napoleanic Wars, and throughout the series you get to see how humans interact with dragons across the world.

These books were written just for you.

It is the Time Lord officer who shouts it. Not Capaldi. The Time Lord officer is counting them off and unexpectedly gets to the 13th which causes him to exclaim.

Capaldi is Twelfth. No renumbering. See countless (no pun intended) Moff interviews. Makes the most sense, no renaming of nuwho Doctors.

Check the date of the post. It's from 1996. #timeywimey

Clearly, the person writing the headline confused the season (Season 8) with the number of Doctors.

If no one has seen Bill Bailey's stand up shows, they are awesome.

"Fun begins around the 23:20 mark."

Are we ABSOLUTELY sure that James was the father?

I'm glad someone is finally making a Frankenstein film. Such a neglected and obscure work needs to come to the attention of the world at large.

Ah, the new guy. Discworld Igor welcomes you.

Is "reboot" really the appropriate term in this case? I mean, considering how many times the story's been told in every different medium, does that really apply here? Can every retelling be considered a reboot?

We probably don't need the "Harry Potter star" part before his name, now...

You're right! He looks just like Moss!!!

How has no one brought this one up? Face of Boe was an awesomely surprising reveal.
