How do YOU deal with traumatized people? I’m not trying to be an asshole. I’m interested to hear how, in a perfect world, would you have swooped in on this situation and made it better?

No, in the fantasy world I live in, traumatized people are like, “Ya know, I have a legal obligation to attend this court date. I am going to feel like shit, but maybe I can do it?” and then try it. While that might be true, it sounds like the lady wasn’t really in good communication with her lawyer or the court system. If she had been, then the prosecutor could have been prepared for that. Also, if she was going to drop the charges, the lawyer should have known that right, and the case not even brought to court,

Well. The “friend” showed up to court, supporting documents in hand. Seems kinda like that’s what’s expected, and the judge was thankful to see.
