The Philips Wake-Up Light has changed my life (in the mornings). I received it for Christmas last year, and it has made a dramatic difference in my mornings. Now I just use my smartphone (with app Gentle Alarm, highly recommend it) as a backup.

Indeed, I think well-constructed debate can be very useful and informative to the audience. It seems to me that is can be most interesting in an academic/theoretical environment, and I love nothing more than hearing a really challenging, thought-provoking debate about a topic.
