Robert condoned the killing of a baby and a child. The fact that these killings were accepted by the populace does not make them either lawful or honorable...otherwise lawful, honorable Ned would not have condemned them. It was more of a case of most people shrugging and saying, “Oh well, this is what the powerful do

Orcs are elves that were tortured and brainwashed and experimented on by Morgoth (or at least their ancestors were). An attempt to redeem them is not altogether foolish.

I said this on Gawker but I used to hang out at a site that called those “rape kittens.” There would be a terrible story and then posts and posts of kittens, like that somehow made the story less terrible? It was eventually agreed they were bad form and trivialized the subject at hand, and then rape kittens were

So so agree. I was an attorney for children’s services in NYC and the poverty and completely disproportionate effect on minority families is just heartbreaking. It always struck me too that no matter how bad things were at home, if you asked a kid where they wanted to go it’s always with mommy and daddy. And removals

Attorney here, working with families involved with child welfare. I represent parents and children, and all my clients are indigent. This is so incredibly spot-on. After six years of seeing addiction, domestic violence, neglect, all varieties of abuse, mental illness, and myriad other problems, it’s clear to me the

I caught five minutes of it on TV. The writing was so awful I decided it was a poor use of my time so I turned it off and spent 2 hours banging my head against a wall. Far more enjoyable experience.

If you want to read faster, read MORE its not going to make you read at 750 wpm but it will increase your speed for sure.

War and Peace are my boobs’ names.

I’m sure it is traumatic to kill someone, and if this cop was suing his employer (the police department) for not providing adequate mental health support in dealing with said trauma, or for some kind of bad work environment or lack of training that led to this situation, I think that could be understandable. But suing

Ah, I’m not so good at picking up sarcasm in real life, much less online, so I apologize if I came across like I was attacking you. It was a total knee-jerk reaction.

Risk is also a part of the job description. That’s why they feel they need to actively defend themselves instead of... you, know-the community.

Uhhh, isn't emotional distress part of the job description when you decided to become a police officer? It is literally your job to handle distressing situations. It's also the defense apologetics use when explaining why it's okay for you to kill unarmed civilians. This is an extra step of awful.

I am conflicted on this whole thing, but want to point out that a baby choking on crackers, or getting out of your reach for a second, or going down a slide unaided are all mistakes that could be made by ANY first-time parent, developmentally disabled or not.

I think you’re completely right she needed, and still needs, help and support. But taking the baby away and only allowing her 1 hour twice a month is ridiculous. Ideally, she would have been referred for help by her OB before birth to gain some of the basics like diapering and CPR and then a home visit nurse would

I live in a society where cultural appropriation as a negative concept doesn't exist. We easily wear the ethnic and traditional garments of various groups without any fear of outrage or backlash. This to say, I would wear the heck out of these.

Dude. that’s brilliant.

She’s like a Mini-Miscavige. I mean metaphorically, not literally, because Miscavige is like really short.

I live in the midwest - which is decidedly not LA - and was also impressed by the price tag. Which is pretty close to what I pay here for 1 kid, except that we have two so - we pay BIG MONEY.

It’s probably bad that for a brief moment I thought - “Wow, maybe we could afford to live somewhere on the coast.” Nope, jk -

Because people, by and large, are asshats.
