Hollow Knight: After seeing the Silksong trailer, I finally decided to take the plunge. Only a few hours in, but I’m really enjoying it. Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get to this game considering I naturally gravitate to Metroidvanias.

Ethan, you forgot one:

Eh, I’m gonna disagree with you on DmC, but not because it wasn’t DMC5. My complaints were all about how it played. Removal of Style switching (mechanics like wave dashing and Sky Staring no longer existed), inertia manipulation was removed (unfortunately DMC5 seems to be missing this too, hopefully it gets patched in)

Herzog Zwei. Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. You are absolutely right, Peter. This is the best RTS almost no one has played. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s THE gold standard for how to execute an RTS for consoles. Such a good game, and an extremely unique experience to boot!

Bayo3 was gonna be my reason finally pick up a Switch, but it looks like Astral Chain gave me a new incentive to pick it up early.

Ah yisssss, Chaos Legion. I suspect this was the inspiration for V in DMC5.

DQXI post game ftw. I’d say more, but I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t reached it yet.

Are you familiar with how ArcSys achieves this particular animated style? If not, you should look it up. They’re essentially taking a 2D workflow and importing it into a 3D environment. Doing a completely different outfit would be tantamount to creating a whole new character.

I wish ArcSys would’ve used her Great Saiyawoman costume.

Also, there are those 30 min “The Story of KH” that can be found on Youtube. That should be good enough for people who just want a general idea of what’s going on. That’s what I plan on doing. Dedicate a half hour to catching up, then pop in the game.

Pretty similar to you, except I do like picking up NRS games when they’re dirt cheap and playing through the story mode...which is weird considering I never do that with the fighting games I like playing. Still not quite sure why the hell the Mishimas love throwing each other into volcanoes.

It doesn’t help that Alex is a young twenty something who thinks he has interesting ideas about stuff because he took a few courses on philosophy while getting his degree.

+1. Definitely love the flow a helluva lot more compared to other Tales games.

Yep.

“[...]git gud, scrub”

but what was with the trend of having some dude narrate basically the entire plot of the movie?

Man, this looks like some disjointed, ridiculous nonsense....I’m so totally on board.

It was put on indefinite hiatus a while ago, but earlier this year Team Meat started tinkering with it again. No word on when it’ll come out or if it’ll come out at all.

It’s pretty obvious why the games you posted (except Long Gone Days) didn’t make it into the KF Showcase; none of them have a 2019 release window. Hell, some of them don’t have a release window at all. Kinda pointless if to highlight them now if they won’t be playable for a couple of years (at the earliest).

I’m a sucker for stop-motion animation, so I’ll definitely be checking this out.
