But also, just because of your name, can we talk about how perfect Fares Fares was as Ishamael? Not an actor I considered for the role but dead-on in his performance.

Agreed. The show gets a lot of details right, oddly in great specificity, from costuming to set design, but it has no context for its lore or is missing key things (hey, Lews therin Telamon, do viewers know he went nuts and killed everyone? No!). So much anchoring or weighty stuff is missing, leaving a lot of this…
Not sure I agree. The show feels made by and for fans of the book (I am one!). There’s a level of detail and set design and worldbuilding that just feels accurate. Fal Dara is dead on. Costuming is good. Etc. But what’s lacking is any real context or lore for new viewers. Where exactly are they traveling and how far…
Not the biggest Eggers or Skarsgaard fan but here for Dafoe and possible actual goddess Bjork.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s the writing or Pugh’s acting (seen her in a few things, still don’t get the hype) but Yelena is really unlikable. She feels almost like a MPDG type character, the wild and odd but badass type. Especially when contrasted with Kate, who feels massively stronger and more cohesive as a character.
Yeah, curious about that. Like, is Bruce confirmed dead in Batwoman or just missing? And if so, why haven’t we encountered Robin/Nightwing/Batgirl/etc in it?
I have not seen any of Flanagan’s shows but I love Poe and this cast is amazing.
Oh goodness, I was worried he was the Dracula in Karyn Kusama’s Dracula movie for a moment.
That’s why the book worked. It feels basic but Jordan subverted it left and right. Chosen one? Prepare to be manipulated, hunted, suffer from expectations, etc.
I cannot get over how bad the visual layering off this all is. The greenscreen and such. Thought it was just bad in the ads, but that’s really the show’s style, huh?
22 issues and like 10 were just the same events replayed over and over.
My honest guess is this is the last season. And then they’ll do 3 special event movies/episodes.
Part of what made the books so fun was that it wasn’t your bog-standard medieval fantasy series; the world was much more closer to the Renaissance in development, even the early-modern era at times. The trailers have made it seem like it’s going for generic medieval.
ZSJL was a terrible movie and now I have more reason to dislike it.
“Hey T. You won’t believe this. Guy says he’s a Mandahattian or some thing. Wears a helmet.”
Definitely looks better than I figured. But also still odd that both Boba and Fennec are concerned with a backwater, and per-the-Mandalorian, dying planet when they can go offworld and there are more opportunities.
This is my mantra. I’m a bit more optimistic after this trailer but still nervous.
The fear of/deconstruction of the Chosen One is one of the strongest parts of The Wheel of Time, along with the politics, so I am hopeful.
Still unsure any adaptation can capture the scope of the books or have the effects budget needed, but this looks stronger. Caught glimpses of the end of the Aiel War, Lan flashbacks to Malkier? and is that a way gate at the end?
I don’t mind that, but I am annoyed he’s not rocking the trenchcoat in the Ballad of Fallen Angels scenes.
