You realize that the millennial generation is definitely in full-on, kids-having throttle, right? I’m 36 and a millennial. 1983, baby. And yeah, many (most, I think) everyone I know my age has a kid or two. I even know one with FIVE, God bless her Italian Catholic soul.

Thank you!

Mental illness can kill, and does, every day. But since you’re drawing a line in the imaginary sand between physical and mental conditions, let’s put it this way: Would it be legal for corrections officers to deny a schizophrenic patient their prescription? Unequivocally no.

Gender Dysphoria in transgender people is a condition which is treated by correcting false gender markers and providing them the means to identify with their correct gender (aka a transman is a MAN, a transwoman is a WOMAN).

This makes my blood fucking boil. It’s just one more example of corrections workers thinking they get to act as judge and jury for people, despite the fact that that’s not their role.

PS: before anyone comes at me with “Ho ho I hope you never need the police” … same.

People are going to think this is a hot take, but it’s not: police departments are sexist, racist draconian hellscapes that systemically rob both officers and criminals of their humanity. There are no good police departments because there are no police departments that don’t encourage an ‘us vs them’ mentality. An

Thanks for answering and interacting with the commenters on a tough topic. I think as a longtime reader I’m jaded by past experiences where Jezebel/Gawker staff have gone to bat for undeserving writers they know. It’s good to know that’s not happening this time.

I think Prachi did a good job overall with this piece in a vacuum, but it’s definitely a post critiquing the bad article, not the bad article’s writer. As many people have noticed, this post even makes a point of calling Smith’s editors out... which while correct isn’t really the norm for Jez in callout posts... With

That update has some curious language. “As a practice”? What an interesting way to sort of deny the tequila allegation.

You’re right that editors are predominantly white, white people miss the truth around POC more, and Mariah’s editors definitely should have caught this. BUT.

That is absolutely the same Mariah Smith, which explains why the staff won’t talk about her personal beef with Priyanka... when I feel like if any other writer had written something like this there would definitely be more snark involved.

Hi, another designer here. I disagree with you on the facts, but I also think the reason you’re such vehement pushback is because your argument seems to be intentionally undervaluing design in comparison to other creative. (“But given the comparative simplicity of the image...”) Plus you’re being condescending by

“Held emotionally hostage” What an exceptionally intense relationship you must have had with this past acquaintance.

I’m not in the grays and I haven’t read something this shitty in awhile:

On the contrary, I’m why everything is awesome.

I agree it’s not a big deal, but as a person in a marriage with mutual accounts, I do wonder why married people value separate accounts, if that makes sense? I know it’s very common and makes some people more comfortable, but why?

No, you’re right. I don’t know what Clio’s about but everyone wants to see this except weirdly jaded media bloggers. It looks fun as fuck.

This is a late reply but I want to sincerely say, if you’re assuming an innocuous term like ‘laypeople’ is arrogant, despite being highly qualified for whatever you choose to do, maybe you are dealing with some imposter syndrome/professional envy stuff? That can be a real challenge for people in creative fields

... if you want to put this in terms of innocence, there are plenty of people who would argue that a woman who stays in that kind of relationship isn’t all that innocent a victim.
