I am lukewarm on No Way Home overall, but I think it and Doctor Strange 2 use the multiverse as a plot device and don’t really d anything very interesting with it or examine how it works and why in the MCU.

The difference between punching someone so that s/he is left in a coma versus dying is essentially random - if Batman punches 10 guys hard enough to knock them out, he’s probably killed or contributed to an early death for one or two of them.

The whole “non-lethal hero” trope is a joke - Batman as portrayed almost certainly would have accidentally killed guys with his bare hands given how much punching and kicking and general brawling he engages in, especially in the movies.
