Standard equipment updates over the course of 4 to 5 model years does not equal $10k. And you're still otherwise wrong in regards to what constitutes a "stripper". The G8 had more than adequate infotainment for a 2009MY car. Adding nav and a proper USB interface to it would bring it right up to current standards.

Came to say exactly this. The XT/CVT is quite a bit of fun. The power is ALWAYS there. Similar in feel to the instant torque of EVs. The CVT works better in this setup than a DCT ever would.

The previous generation did not come with a CVT in any trim level. But it was noisy regardless. I always likened it to driving a soda can. Every Forester I've driven from before that horrible 09-13 generation was significantly quieter, even with the frameless windows.
