I think the hype at release was just to huge. I bought it, played it and really enjoyed it at release. I bought a new gaming rig partially because I wanted to play Cyberpunk at the highest settings. I remember at the time understanding the complaints about bugs but not getting the accusations of it being boring or

Thing is, it is not that Herbert did not write strong female characters. Many of the strongest and most powerful characters in the books are female. Chani just isn’t one of them. She is important to Paul, but not really the reader.

Doesn’t admitting they were right effectively mean admitting you wasted everyone’s time (and shareholders’ money) by trying to starve them out?

Exactly. Indie is a business model, not a genre. We went through this shit with music and movies (“So, this four-piece guitar and bass and drums and vocals band...makes the exact same type of music as this one girl who does downtempo synth instrumentals? They’re both indie?) and movies.

Fun fact, the Alan Wake actor is dubbed by the Dr Sterling actor. So he had to act it AND lip sync it.

I’d argue Baldur’s Gate 3 would. Most people playing it haven’t even touched Baldur’s Gate 1 or 2 or are even familiar with D&D. If the names were changed, the strength of the character builds, cause and effect relationships and outside of the box thinking would still merit consideration.

“We are behind him 100%. That is, after all, the best position from which to push someone down the stairs.”

Depends on what you loved about Control. There’s still the creepy deep lore stuff but its significantly less varied than all the case files lying around the Bureau. More depth than breadth. The combat isn’t as off the wall (literally) as Control but it is on the better end of survival horror combat systems.

Now playing

For anyone with a passing interest in video games (but ZERO interest in ever playing this very fun game), I’d suggest watching a playthrough of the section rather than this music video version.

Regardless of the controversy, Hogwarts was a pretty mediocre game and it sold because of the IP it was attached to. To imply that it was “snubbed” for awards is to forget that awards are for the actual game delivered, not for the marketing campaign or sales quantity.

It wasn’t misunderstood and there wasn’t any hidden

Commenting on this thread so I remember to check later on whether they actually elaborate on the offensive stereotype or if they just threw a grenade in the comments and ran

You can store the coffee mug charms in the shoebox at any rest point.

I cannot stress enough that people should not watch this unless they have no interest at all in the game, but are curious what this thing is.

It is a shame that Starfield is getting attention based on who created it and Todd H. pushing it. It is NOT a great game. In fact, some may argue it is not even a good game. Your mileage may vary. For me, it did not get any nominations because it is not very good. One of the few game this year where I truly thought

regulating huge mergers and monopolies are kind of a big deal.

To quote the guy from the other thread: “Starfield wasn’t snubbed. It simply wasn’t deserving.”

I think the issue with HBO Max hurting the HBO brand was less that adding “Max” tainted the brand, and more that nobody knew the fucking difference between HBO Go and HBO Max and HBO was really vague about what the distinctions were. Originally if you had an HBO subscription, you ALSO had a streaming on-demand

The word “phobia” actually refers to strong irrational fear and/or aversion. You can have a phobia without necessarily being afraid. “Irrational” is the most important word there.

phobia as in aversion too. Not necessarily afraid of. Hydrophobic material isn’t afraid of water.

Wait a second, I thought that capitalism was supposed to make everything work optimally. Was that ... propaganda?
