I love the paradigm shift that the "less tech-savvy crowd" are the ones who actually DO use their computers.
Whereas I would have said Yesterday in terms of number of times covered by other artists.
Project Euler is a collection of problems that can be solved using any kind of computing language. They are all mathematically based, and the answers involve not just coding, but thinking about the problems first so that they can be simplified into something that can be easily computed.
"Mel" does indeed mean "honey" in Catalan (my mother tongue) - but nobody uses it as a way to address another one (as in "pass me the honey, honey" - only the first "honey" in that sentence would be translated as "mel")
You'd be surprised at how many high-achieving, affluent-parent kids are wearing those at the private international school where I teach.
My biggest disappointment was with Awesome New Tab Page. It took me a while to figure out why on earth I was getting ads in the middle of every page I browsed, until I found about it. Yes, they do have a setting to disable them, but it was pretty foul play from them.
Part of the reason everyone loves this particular system is because it's so affordable. The whole system will set you back $220 at Monoprice right now. Those of you who nominated it (including me) marvelled at the sound for the price, and while they only pack a one year warranty (a little anemic compared to some of…
Sorry, I missed your reply (I didn't check the greyed-out ones) - didn't mean to plagiarise!
Fun fact: aioli comes from Catalan "all i oli", literally "garlic and oil". The absolutely real one should have no egg whatsoever, although even in its original areas they often do the egg version, which ends up being a garlic-flavoured mayonnaise.
To add more to your point: "first-time programmers" should become younger and younger as generations go by, just like "first-time typists" or "first-time mathematicians". Of course Scratch is not an obvious choice for people learning to code in their university or professional years, but if we want to instil a sense…

Whenever I see a shortcut that involves a non-alphanumerical character, I am dismayed to find out that they are not well supported in non-US keyboards layouts. In my keyboard (Swiss French QWERTZ), the "/" is obtained with Shift+7. However, pressing Alt+Shift+7 on my keyboard (to try and get Alt+/) brings no…
I had the issue of articles disappearing from the page, but funnily enough not the "Top Stories" bar on the left... and then I discovered that the culprit was Adblock Plus. I am not sure if this is a clever way to make us turn off ABP to watch Lifehacker - it was certainly blocking all the "Top 10", "Dealhacks", etc.…
Link for those who want further info about it.
I particularly like the shortcuts that move windows around when I am working - apart from the ones you mention in #6, I would add Win+left or right cursors to pin windows to the left or right edges of the monitor (keep pressing to make them jump to the next monitor if you have several set up); and the ultimate,…
I have only recently started using Asana at a small scale, but I saw the other day that they now allow you to use "integrations", including Google Drive and Dropbox. Would that help your needs?
I wonder if this could be turned around and used as a teacher planner...
Here is a case scenario: my (middle school) students have a Google Apps account, but not a Youtube one. They have a non-indexed site which they use as a portfolio, and if they ever create a video, embedding it would be a pain, unless I took all their videos, uploaded them to my teaching Youtube account, etc.
The clock should have read 5:59...
