I’m not entirely sure how the show works but the listed guests for the previous 9 shows (before the KK one) were all dudes. Sigh.

I’d heard of the podcast but had never listened. This piqued my interest; so I went to the podcast app I use to download it. She’s apparently their first female guest in 2 months. Really NPR?
See I read that as he was a writer on the TV show “The Closer” and was like, yeah, seems about right.
Since when do you have a right to the underseat space?? That’s for the person behind you to use... for their feet or bag or child or whatever. You have the right to the underseat space in front of your seat, not under your own.
Yeah, or even Darwin in the Northern Territory! Not even close to NSW, and definitely not to Manly, which is a good 1000kms south from the northernmost border of the state.
Also - FWIW - apparently there hasn’t been a fatal shark attack at a netted beach since 1951. :)
Definitely. Apparently there are seasonal meshing-nets at Manly, which I had never heard about!
We generally don’t let the bad ones leave. :)
I dunno... There’s no intent to kill you... the things in Australia mostly kill opportunistically, or upon provocation. Maybe “Manslaughter Continent” would be better...? :)
You know, I didn’t even really pick up that maybe she was describing swimming in the area in between the flags; I thought she meant the teeny, obviously-fenced, kiddie ‘pool’ near the ferry on the harbour beach of Manly.
Totally understandable! When I was 7 I was stung by a blue bottle on my thigh. I accidentally broke off one of the tentacles trying to get the bottle itself away from me (ouch) and then ripped it off my skin (ouuuuuuccchhhhh). Poor choices all around. My grandmother, distressed at my distress, took me to the…
Well... contact with a shark is usually less deadly than a box jellyfish...? :)
Look, we have enough in Australia to kill you, but come on now: there are no Box Jellyfish at Manly Beach. Box Jellyfish are found in tropical waters, i.e., nowhere near Sydney.
My understanding, which may be mistaken, is that when her career was taking off (around 21 yrs old) she became pregnant and gave the baby up for adoption. That may have been due to and/or reinforced her point of view on the issue.
Yup, pretty much. I was running a lot at the time and my mother kept trying to feed me more. I was so annoyed at that because I still wasn’t 115.
(deleted, sorry)
Geez, there are so many people in this thread just here to misinterpret what you said.
...I think you may be missing the point. I think the OP (and myself, truthfully) was just happy that someone is coming out and saying 160 is HER normal weight and she’s ok with that. It’s great that you’re heading back to your normal - it’s just that a number like “160” isn’t normally bandied about in Hollywood…
Word. I’m mostly just happy she said 160! Out loud!
Nope, it’s not.
