Name one US state with suicide still on the books.
Not in any US state’s legislation.
It is real and I think I found it on Pinterest...? Let me...
Oh man, I WEPT when I read this on FB this morning. Especially that last line
Yeah, I should be more careful about this. The single easiest beach holiday I ever took, I decided that my wardrobe theme was “black and white” and literally only packed those ‘colours’ (ok, ok, and one large red scarf). Everything always went together and it was super easy both to pack and to pick outfits. I think I…
Dude, if Mindy was at my spin class, I would totally MAKE her my friend.
It may be the homesickness speaking but... I would order the f**k outta that pizza.
It’s Feist! :)
I just love that this video has people revisiting this album... she is singing about being a complicated person and I just <3 her for it.
It’s FEIST!!! :)
On one level I’m happy to be vindicated on this - I was so sure they were boning based on moments here, Instagrams there - but if it’s “complicated" and it's gone on for 10 years...??? Oh Mindy, BJ, just let it go.
Just an aside, but I’m not ashamed to admit I laughed out loud when I saw the octopus porn strategically covered in kitten decals.
I can see it! (just put a star on it so you can find it)
This whole thread is about underpaid nail techs, and she mentioned tipping the same for nails as hair. I worked backwards - which you removed from this quote, conveniently - from the standard tip in my city (which, again, I listed as my own assumption) of 20%, which for a service under $35 seems to be not very much…
Okey dokey. So what do you pay for your nails / hair?
But it’s not, not really. There’s a reason why you don’t tip your oncologist when her treatment plan beats your cancer (or your litigator when she wins your case) and it has nothing (/very little) to do with her performance and (almost) everything to do with the wage she is paid by her employer.
But you don’t do it as standard. And I’d wager the reason behind it is that the hairdresser costs a lot more than $15 per appointment. Granted, she likely works longer on your hair but the cost of the service is sufficient to cover the business costs and pay her a reasonable wage, which you then top up/ add to…
I’m not the OP, but the comparison makes total sense. They are also service professionals.
I don’t know what you pay for the service but it sounds from that as though your nail tech is being undertipped - but I don’t know, maybe you pay $30-45 for the manicure, in which case 20% (*standard hairdressing tip in the US city where I live) would work.
Also: just a quick query: you noted above
