For the price - and the big community you’d join and ease of parts - this looks like a winner to me. Could also be an interesting base to do an EV conversion, if you could fit a drop-in EV motor in there.

Yeah, there are certainly worse ideas than swapping the rocket for the satellites. On the other hand, I’d also be okay with the UK government paying OneWeb for replacement sats, and then shredding the Soyuz into scrap on live TV, beamed into Russia. I’m good either way 😉

It’s not a maxim, it’s a saying. And sales taxes are, in a way, optional also - if you don’t want to pay sales tax, don’t buy anything that’s not an un-taxed necessity, or move to a state without sales tax. If you don't want to pay property taxes, rent. And so on. I think perhaps you are being a bit pedantic.

Ok, that made me laugh 😂

The lottery, a tax on people who are bad at math.

The U.S. is not - yet - in recession. Russia *is* in recession already, and parts of Europe are on the brink. The (very attractive!) financial analyst I met in a hot tub in Maui a couple weeks ago told me she expects the U.S. to enter a mild recession in late Q2 or early Q3, but it won't be a long or deep one.

Another important difference is that banking regulations require banks to maintain a certain amount in reserves - not invested - which is a proportion of the deposits. That, along with the FDIC coverage, means that (a) banks are far, far, FAR less likely to become insolvent, and (b) depositors won't lose their money

^^This. Tax policy should totally be geared towards what's best for the long-term population as a whole.

>there has to be more than a few feed up and more moderate republicans.

Speak for yourself - my goal is to live forever, and so far, all is going according to plan! 😉

You know, I had to read that twice to realize it was satire. Poe's law. Sigh.

Which athletes are "dropping dead”??? Where? Also, Hamlin isn't dead. WTF, are you a troll or what. Read the friggin article.

Wow, did you not READ the article? Geezus, dude, learn to read. It DID happen before covid, and sudden cardiac death was the most common cause of sudden death in athletes as reported back in 2016. It’s like you’re wilfully stupid.

Having ridden in a Yugo, I'd prefer the golf cart really.

Functioning government?? 😂😅😅

But possibly dumb enough to spend $99 on a Trump NFT 😅

I feel like them trying to block the sale of pills across state lines could also run afoul of the interstate commerce act (or at the last, congress could pass a law that prevents any state from blocking the sale).

I wonder whether this is due to some defect in the Soyuz’s manufacturing, or if there was damage from a debris strike. The quality of Russia’s space equipment has been on a downhill trend for a decade (failed Soyuz, Progress and Proton launches, that hole in the Soyuz capsule), and space debris is also a growing

This was a great and fascinating article. I’ve been to Vietnam three times - twice as a tourist, and once for a regional work meeting - and love the country, but the whole “new infrastructure, weirdly devoid of people” isn’t totally uncommon there, or other places in Asia. Too bad you didn’t get to wander around Nha

The plot sounds similar to "Moon" (2009, starring Sam Rockwell). But if the reviews are good, I'll see it anyway.
