I half-agree. Lindy apparently nuked an account of mine for suggesting her "haha oh yeah duh" — acknowledging a basic error interpreting some research — should serve as the official Jez correction for all misguided science reporting.
Hey Tracy -
Way to pander slavishly while not realizing your intended audience is the same one making most of the pissed-off comments.
Not that I've seen. Even when egregious errors of interpretation or judgment were involved.
Add Tracy to the list of Jez authors who will happily censor threads noting their hypocrisy over censorship.
That seems an unfortunate limitation. Best of luck with it though.
This is fat-shaming, pure and simple.
Exactly. How hard would it be to do some context comparison to teen-oriented shows in foreign markets, instead of analyzing 1,900 scenes from the OC in isolation?
If they're indeed getting death threats, then no... that's not the same thing.
"Fin. [Dies.]"
Lindy has her own Very Special Vocabulary (VSV)... 'cause the regular dictionary can't contain the infinite complexity of her thought stream.
Good clarification. I'm not sure that a privilege/"-ism" framework is an ideal tool for this to this kind of analysis, however... some characteristics (race/sex) are a lot more immutable than others (weight, skill), no?
Yes, agreed. Lulu's got a valuation that's pretty delicate at the moment, and a product-line extension that risks lower margins and sales per ft2 is going to be viewed by extreme prejudice by analysts.
I actually alluded to this issue in an earlier post - noting that Cristal (Roederer) went through a lot of anxiety over its popularity in hip-hop circles, as did LVMH... fears which proved to be overblown. Indeed, Jay-Z cleverly exploited the concerns to popularize Ace of Spaces - a far pricier and arguably inferior…
It's probably not "as often as" but "for as much time as"... which changes the analysis considerably.
If it's any consolation, you will likely re-rank Princeton eating clubs as "among the least safe feelings I've ever had" if you ever spend a little time in any of the tens of thousands of truly sketchy places on the planet.
Tommy Craggs put up the article on Deadspin. Anytime Denton can get his boys' site and girls' site butting heads, it's a page-view fiesta.
Ahaha... I'm visiting BC right now. And yeah, I'll probably be posting even worse nonsense than normal by the weekend... strong bud + altitude = challenge.
Some of the stuff in the filing comes off as incredibly petty to the non-lawyer, which may partly account for the amused reaction in some quarters.
