Not just you! I’m playing on a PC, and “R” shifts the camera from shoulder to shoulder. I’m a few hours into the game and still doing this half a dozen times every firefight.
I am enjoying the bejesus out of this game, and the combat is a big reason why. Never too repetitive, flows really nicely from tactic to tactic, and makes you feel awesome on a regular basis. I’ve been impressed by how seamlessly new abilities are incorporated into the gameplay and become second nature in a very short… Read more
Here’s what I did: I spent about five bucks in the marketplace to get all the cosmetics I actually like, and then every week I spend in-game BP on one or two crates and sell back whatever I get. I figure I’ll break even in a few months.
But I do enjoy not seeing enemies for minutes at a time, and spending most of my time in a shooter walking across empty areas. PUBG has a kind of condensed exploration/journey experience, combined with visceral, grounded gun combat, that I don’t get from any other game. I love to let myself sink into the flow and… Read more
The Starfighter Inc. Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded and appears to be on track for a 2018 release. For obvious reasons they can’t use the Star Wars setting, but I’m hopeful that the final product will support some kind of modding or skinning so that the community can take it across the finish line. This is the opposite of an original observation, but holy shit are video game fans entitled.
I completely agree. BSG remains possibly my favorite show of all time—ending and all!—but I like to imagine how things could have been if they had continued with just 13 episodes per season. It’s no coincidence that the first season was always the strongest.
I disagree, honestly. I think if the developers had had the ability to make the game look like this in 2006, they would have without hesitation. I don’t look at these before-and-after screenshots and see something more cohesive or impressionistic, I just see something more blurry and struggling against its… Read more
Any recommendations for someone who adored Gundam Wing as a kid, but can’t quite stomach the bad writing & production now that I’m twenty years older and live in the age of Mad Men and Game of Thrones?
Love it. I’ve also discovered at least one substantial easter egg. Keep a sharp eye out when you’re flying over the mountains.
I mean, “spoiler-filled place” is in the title, so I’d like to think anyone who wants to avoid spoilers is in minimal danger of a misclick.
I’d cross my fingers for Jared Harris in just about any role. But Dumbledore would be especially fantastic.
I didn’t read it as spin. I think the idea is to say “hey, this is a good thing, so let’s highlight it and thereby celebrate and encourage this kind of behavior instead of the bad kind.” It’s not to excuse the toxicity, but to combat and maybe reduce it. A toxic community isn’t an immutable fact; cultures can change.… Read more
Exactly. Even when experienced storytellers innovate or subvert common conventions, it’s usually by experimenting thoughtfully with one or two key elements, rather than throwing out the whole playbook. Stories are ancient and there are reasons why they work.
